Title: 69 side pipes.
Post by: raafrebel on February 13, 2013, 01:35:46 PM
I just bought some brand new Hooker side pipes and hooker matching headers. Has anyone else have or installed these pipes? Im assuming they will be bad ass loud, so im going to buy the muffler inserts.
here is my question,
They make 2 types of inserts. I want the ones that are the MOST quietest. Do they work? or should i not bother with them and have my tri power run at full noise!!??

Also, Im such a twit. On close inspection of my tri power set up, there was a couple screws that had vibrated out or just were not there when i bought the car. These screws controled the Vacume secedarys ( i think) Car was only running on one carb
When I repaired them, sh#t! the car has about 300 more horse power! Im shocked at how good they actually go! Im such an idiot, but a very happy idiot!

All I can say is best of luck with them fitting.

I got a pair of Hooker side mount headers when they first relocated their manufacturing down to Mexico. Not even close to fitting :grr:

See post.

Just hope their quality control has improved since then!!!

I saw a C3 with (real) sidepipes driving through the middle of Surfers Paradise during schoolies week.  It was whisper quiet,, quieter than a chev should be, so it can be done.  I have no idea how much the exhaust was choking the engine though.

From what I have read the  spiral type inner works best
it  looks like an auger with parts cut out  along the center

one thing you don't need to to attract the boys in blue
to make life hard for you
I believe the Hooker are not the best fit and require some assistance to make it all look correct
