Well, this is reverse technology if we ever heard it.

Everyone knows that Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Jeuchter says they stuck with a big, bad V8 motor in the Corvette because it delivered better fuel economy with the new Active Fuel Management system that shuts down half of the motor when appropriate than a smaller motor was able to do.


Now we find someone who has desecrated a Z06 and dropped a whiny B18 1.8-liter four-cylinder Honda motor (whatever the heck that is) into the engine compartment! Guess they didn’t get the memo. Don’t expect better fuel economy; that thing will probably be lucky to pull the car up a hill. And can you imagine not having that beautiful Z06 sound to listen to?

Of course, we’ve seen all kinds of little foreign cars with big, bad Corvette V8s transplanted into them, so maybe it was only a matter of time before the tables were turned.

But we just wonder who in his right mind would do such a thing to a great Corvette?

One poster on the original source of this tidbit (Honda-tech.com) summed it pretty nicely when he wrote: “Thats like the worst of both world’s instead of the best.”


So is this what ya been up to Jethro?  :taunt:

That can not be the American way to hot rod a car
But the times they are a changing

May be the NSW government would like this sore of engine swap

So fooken Spoooky CammO  I was just thinking bout ya and thought hmmmmm Jethro, I haven't heard from CammO  for such a long time????? And then I log on and  Wammy  :lol: :lol: :lol:

I heard Bobby was using B18 1.8-liter motor as a starter motor on he's Create 454 Donk  :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: P.S. it needed a reduction set up too :rol: :rol: :rol:

I hope you guys realise that is a bad photochop.  It would be more believable if they chopped in an S2000 motor so at least the gearbox could theoretically be made to work. :)

Now I could get enthusiastic about that sort of swap
I am trying to talk my son into fitting an LS1 to his 260Z
Would make for a good project it's been sitting in MY shed for 3 years already .

My first car was a 240Z with an L28.  I'm suprised I didn't have more 'incidents' than I did in that.  They are fun, but hardly the most refined chassis in need of more power.

Still, he needs to do it  :smile:

The engineering is not to hard
With a Dana 44 rear the concept would work out
And it would be a great exercise
For farher  and son
