Title: Camos New Toy
Post by: Camo on June 23, 2011, 07:27:16 PM
Well some dollars have exchanged hands so I can now post up some hints.  Just a reminder, it's not a Corvette.

Wont be finalized until late next month so until then see if you can figure it out...

Hi Cam looking at the bonnet scoop  & mopar # plate & the front bumper bar, I would say it is a 72 Dodge charger. A guy that lives down my way has just bought the same car he got a 72 440 & it will be at Towradgi SES charity day on show.
See Ya Garry

I just love Air Grabber Hoods....

Original matching A833 4 speed incl. Pistol grip shifter the very rare super track pack option incl. Dana 60 rear end, also features power windows, power headlights, power disc brakes, power steering and the n96 ram charger hood scoop (which I believe was not supposed to be available in 72').

Car is fully documented with build sheet, window sticker and all options are listed on the 2a original fender tags affixed to the inner guard. It is also documented by Galen Govier and is in the official Chrysler registry.

And yes I still have Priscilla.  Will never ever part with her.

The things a man will buy just to have a glove box.

It will take me a while to get use to driving left hook again but shouldn't take long.  Getting reverse is the hardest with those Hurst shifters.  There is no way you could get reverse by accident I'll give you the drum.

Well the new plates I have on order are DR 440 so lets just go with the Doctor!  Will surgically remove anything that gets in its way

With what I believe are 3.44 diff gears it certainly answers to the throttle but no good for highway cruising.  At 80kph she is doing 3000 rpm.  Might be changing that diff ratio I think.  Certainly a torquey motor.  I picked third once at the lights and it still pulled away.  The exhaust has a bit of a bark to it so will have to tone that down before I go more deaf from the drone.  Apart from that it's fun to drive.  Bit bigger than Priscilla, it just fits in the garage but at last I have a glove box and boot.

Got it up onto the hoist.  It's got 3.54 gears.  Also rechecked RPM, on the road at 50kph is around 2500 not 3000 so not as bad but still wouldn't mind getting the RPM down a touch.

Might have a look at different wheel sizes as it needs some bigger feet under the back guards anyway.

Cam, I asume you meant 50mph. If you plan on taking it to the track once in a while then the 3.5s are a pretty good compromise between road and track. I would just leave it as it is and just go cruising.

Dohh, yep 50mph.

Yeah I'm now inclined to agree but I do more highway than track.  I'll see what happens with bigger wheels/rubber but it will be what it will be.

 Funny bugger.

It fitted that was the main thing.

I got the summit catalog today.  Will bring it tomorrow, weather permitting.  There is a good selection of tires and rims.
