Post by: bfit on May 05, 2011, 11:07:39 AM
Would any one be able to tell me the actual difference
between 84/87 and 88/96 front suspension
As I research   modifications to chassis  etc  for my C3
I keep seeing reference   to the  two being different
But  CAN NOT FIND  WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IS

can any one help

I don't know the exact difference but I assume the upper and lower arms on the 88/96 models are longer by around 18mm per side, but that may be too simplistic an assumption.
84/87 16x9.5" wheels have a +38mm offset while 17x9.5" 88/96 wheels have a +56mm offset, an 18mm difference, yet there is no difference in the width of any of these cars (except ZR1, but that's another story).

thank you Thunder Kiss
I have found out that the rear ISR  assembly is about 2" short over all   axle flange to axle flange  early C4 to later C4
I have been told that  some of the parts for the earlier rear  assemble are getting hard to get as GM no longer support that set up ( yet to be proved )
All assistance is appreciated

Thank YOU
