Hello again
I am looking at importing a replacement chassis for a 69/70 Vette
I have been asked by a few people will I get import approval to import the chassis
as customs will look at a chassis as a car.
has anyone had any experience with this
As Gm Stamp the body with the Vin number and not the chassis I see the chassis/ frame as a component to carry out repairs and as such I should be able to purchase and import.
Your input please
More info
The chassis I want to purchase and import is aftermarket

Original chassis' did have the VIN stamped on them, LH rear wheel arch. This did mate the body, chassis and motor as one vehicle.
That said, you should be able to import a genuine chassis as a used spare part.
Can't say much about an aftermarket chassis, probably no VIN on it, possibly a serial no tho.

RHD.68.l89
I checked both the Vettes
I did not find any stamping in the wheel arch
Can you me specific just where the stamping
is
Is it visible from the wheel opening
Is it front of rear of of the arch

On my chassis the VIN is stamped in two places. One is on the upper side of the left frame rail between # 2 and 3 mounts about 5" rear of the tranny cross member. To see this the body needs to be removed.
The second place is on the upper side of the left frame kickup about 2" forward of # 4 mount. There is a small gap between the body and frame here so it may be possible to see it here using a small mirror.
My VIN is a bit hard to see after powder coating however it will give you an idea where it is.
