can i be blunt....

Australian Customs thru DOTARS will not enable you to import a C4 into Australia built after Jan 89 because you will be subject to RAWS and no workshop has been RAWS acredited to convert a C4 Corvette.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.....

Go for a C5 or a pre 89 C4.  :-)

there are lots of posts on this site which will advise you of the pitfalls.

Thanks guys, daniel, now i know what u mean. so my other options are to either buy one previously converted here, or buy a c5 as u mentioned. so a c5 is not any trouble to bring back and convert?? costs, any rough ideas ??

Yes that's basically it.... all those options are available to you.

A C5 will cost you $35,000 to convert but you also have all the costs associated with importing ... import duties, GST, shipping costs, transportation, and time (set aside 6 mths of your life).   Having gone thru the process of importing, i'd think twice about doing it again but rather  i'd buy a copy of Unique Cars or Just Cars at the newsagent and buy a car ready to drive.  An acceptable car may not present itself right away but sooner or later one will come up.
