Title: Working on my car and found a .....
Post by: demonx on July 20, 2008, 08:54:29 AM
I was pulling off some of the front grill etc from my roadster last night and I got a shock - I found an old wasp nest.

There was actually about 4 small nests spread around tucked in behind the grill in front of where the wheel arch is all stuck to the inner fibrelass!

I hope there's no more discoveries like that. I'm also glad it was an "old" nest!

Should have taken a pic but it's too late now.

Yeah ... I was thinking that when I saw a few other things.

I'm still trying to get all the leaves out from under the wiper grill. I removed the grill and I still cannot clean it out. Might have to hook up an air hose and blow it all out.

Customs supposedly get the cars sprayed before release, at least that's what you are charged for.

I think those wasps left your car and set up home in my garage last summer without letting me know. They were pretty angry when I accidentally dislodged the nest with a broom.

I was working on a boat a few years ago and when I got into the bilge I found a nest also. The only thing is the wasps werent too happy about it. I got stung on my lip and eye lid several times and was screaming my brains out as I couldnt get out. Straight to hospital after that to get a antihistamine shot as my face blew up like a balloon. My face looked like I had a stroke. Man it hurt.

Customs don't spray any cars , its the job of Quarantine , and they don't spray all cars only those that they feel need it .

I set a new record for the 100 metres when they came after me.

Yesterday I was stripping out the front end and found yet another one!

Wasp nest count is up to five.
