Title: 69 Corvette arrives
Post by: Sting 69 on June 30, 2008, 04:01:06 PM
Picked up the vette last Thursday. It need a good clean up. Now I'am checking out the rest of the vehicle. It's weird driving these left hook cars first time out.
I have encosed some pics.

Congratulations!

Looks pretty good to me going by those photos.

Great to see another chromie in the fold. What are the specs?

We should organise a run out to Oakdale when you're ready to show it.

I'm hoping to have it registered soon to take on the Darling Harbour Display. It is a 350/350 matching numbers car with 4 speed. It has no options with the car not even power brakes which I'am going to correct with a booster " It just doesn't stop well enough for my liking". The tank has been replaced so there is no build list but the car came with the original warranty card and protecto plate. It needs new rubbers through out and basically small things that I can fix while I drive. A trip out to Oakdale would be good. The Burragorang Lookout is 10 minutes from me, there is plenty of parking and BBQ facilities. When the car is on the road I'll organise some thing.:24

Got yours before mine! Mines still at customs.

Yours looks to be in pretty good shape. I'm sure you're glad it arrived in one piece!

Well nearly one piece. Some moron hit the LH rear quarter putting it in the container and put a 2 inch crack and removed some paint. It's the one thing that lets it down. Wasn't impressed. The car was only in Quarenteen a day or two and didn't require any cleaning at all. You should get yours soon.;46

What a pain in the arse... did you have marine insurance?

Mine has been in Melb/Customs for 8 days so far. I got a call today asking for proof of money transfer etc so they can cross reference the paper work.

Heya MadLt1,

Yeah, my car is gone... it was sad seeing her being driven by another.

The guy who bought her lives not far from me, about 45 mins drive and will be joining the club as well.

We have kept in touch, and he advises that he is wrapped and really happy with his purchase.

A bit of an update on this thread. I since moved the Corvette off to a new home. Not having the room or money to start a rebuild I decided to let it go. It has found a new home in Grenfell, NSW. The new owners are an older couple who also have a Transam in their collection. I wish them well with the car.

All good Jethro, I kind of liked the LH drive. The fella I sold the car to was a bit unsure but I think he was planning on keeping it LHD. Hopefully in the next few years I'll look at getting another Vette. This time I'll spend more $$$ for a better car.
