Title: Introduction
Post by: Scott on February 13, 2007, 11:21:01 PM
Hi All, my name is Scott, and I own a black 73 vert, with a 400 small block and 400 trans.  Running an 80's front clip and 80's seats.  Bought it in LA last January and had it shipped to me here, where I have taken ages to fix up a few things to get it ready for the road.  At this exact point in time, it sits in the garage with the rear spring removed because something was wrong and the spring ends sat about 3 inches from the ground.  I'm ordering a glass one tomorrow.

Here is a pic of the Vette with the old Z.  Looks shiney, and only a few small things to fix.

The Z was my first car, and was actually my daily driver for 8 years.  Sold it a few months ago.

Here is the car when I first got it.

Bit dusty though.

The car has been repainted and all the panal gaps are tight and even, has new carpet, a new engine with a lot of shiny parts, brand new exhaust,  the brakes are completely new, rotors, calipers, booster and master cylinder, but all the original suspension bushes are still in there looking very average, and one of the rear suspension rods has pulled through the control arm and been bodgied up.

How wrong does that look.  That's why I dropped the rear spring last night.

The only wiper part installed was the wiper motor, and one of the wiper transmissions.  I have sourced another, and will soon have a set of wipers (thanks jolinari).  The seats are horrible.  The seat shells have a few different coast on paint and it's cracking and what not, so I'll have to strip those and get the cushins re-trimmed.  And source some new seatbelts.  Plus the wiring is a monster.  The car runs fine (even with the exhaust pipes squashed into the floor thanks to the shippers) but there are a few things that don't work, so I'll have to chase through the bunch of wires under the dash to get it sorted.  But in the end I will get it on the road.  It looks too good to keep in a garage

The problem is every thime I fix something, I'll spot a handfull of other things I would like to fix as well...

While I'm at it I might as well..............

Before you know it, it's a body off restoration. Good luck chasing the problems.

It's black, and as far as I know, black wasn't a colour available in 73.  The car was red, and bits of the interior were white and red, but now it's all black.

Just had a look at my rear spring.  There are 11 separate spring pieces, and the 2nd bottom bit was 3-4mm thick....weird.
