Title: brake calipers
Post by: Greg Brown on January 23, 2007, 03:52:22 PM
Where can I get my 82 brake calipers rebuilt in Sydney?  I need SS hoses put on as well.  Is there any one around that will do these jobs reasonably well and priced?

I also have a question about seatbelts on my 82.  I sent Ssnakoyl in the US a pair of original belts to refurbished.  I had them installed and found out they do not lock when you apply the brakes or when you pull them out quickly.  Is this normal for US cars of this age?  It doesn't seem too safe to me.

Greg,

You will find that those seatbelts do not comply to Australian standards, and are supposed to be replaced with the type that lock, and hence your car should not pass rego without locking retractable seatbelts, that is if the rego man is doing his job properly.
But before you replace them have a look down where thay retract, some of them have a leaver which allows you to make them a locking type.

Thank you for the help.  I'll look them over and see what I can come up with.
