Pyrmont Bridge Darling Harbour Show
5th Nov
Don't Miss It

You will be on the largest heritage-listed swing-span bridge in the world.

In keeping with our clubs recent tradition of hosting car shows our club will be holding it's next show'n'shine day on Pyrmont Bridge in Darling Harbour on Sunday 5th November 2006.

This day will be a trophy day where those who choose to do so may enter their car for judging.  Judging will be as per the system used for previous NSW Corvettes Unlimited Shows.  Scores will be published in the club newsletter following the show so that individuals may be able to assess where they can improve their scoring.  All Judges decisions on the day will be final.

Entry times will be between 7.30am and 9.00am.  Exit time will be approximately 2.30-3.00pm.  PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE LOGISTICS OF THE LOCATION OF THIS SHOW AND RISK MANAGEMENT ISSUES LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY DEPARTURES CANNOT BE CATERED FOR.

Sunday 5th November is also the final day for the Sydney Motor Show so entrants can take advantage of the shows location and check out two car shows in one day if they choose.  Being in central Sydney, entrants and their friends and family will have no shortage of things to do during the day being in the heart of Sydney and near plentiful public transport.

As the committee is finalising details of the costing of the show, entry forms will be made available next week as well as cost of entry - which will be no higher than previous shows run by NSW Corvettes Unlimited Car Club Inc.  Every effort is being made to keep costs to our members as low as possible.

Watch this space for further details.  As the committee is still hard at work finalising things it would be appreciated if detailed questions be held over until after the weekend when final details will be available.

Just a note to keep you all the loop.

A few of us on the committe and a club member went into Darling harbour last night, 7/10/06, to tidy up some loose ends.

We will be reporting to you all shortly both here on the forum and by mail.

Just a reminder gang, don't forget you will need drip trays for under you cars.

Many thanks guys for helping out and giving your input last night.  It's much appreciated.;42

VO, I'll call ya tonight with the updates of last night.

All looking good.

hey cam
I know I am going to regret this question;mmm
BUT;50
How does one fit a drip tray into one's Corvette and if their vehicle does not leak oil do we still need one and finally if one has a drip tray and it gets soiled what does one do with it afterwards;30
Would it be possible for us to purchase one there and then toss into an arranged bin there.;35;42

Darling Harbour requires one irrespective of whether your car leaks or not.  Reason being they require it and we will get charged for cleanup if any cars do drop oil.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a tray as such but needs to be something that will prevent the pavement getting soiled if a car does leak.

I'll make another inquiry that may help in this regard and will advise my progress.

We'll do what we can but logistically we have alot to do insofar as runing the day itself.  Will keep everyone posted. ;42

G'day Gang.

Here are the maps to find ya way to the Draling Harbour Show.  I have included 2 maps.  One so you can read the street names clearly and one with red hand drawn arrows on it so ya can find ya way.

Just make your way to the red X.  There you will find our club Marshalls, with bright coloured vest on, who will direct you to where you have to go.   Remember, we start parking the Vettes from 7.30am and you have to be on the bridge and parked by 9.00am.  So get there as early as pratical.

There are a couple of options to print the maps:-

1) You can print the pics direct from the screen.  To do this simply move your mouse to the top left corner of each picture, wait and when the printer symbol appears, just click on it.  This will give you standard size pictures

OR

2) Print with larger pictures but longer time to down load.  To do this go to the bottom of this post and click on the "CLICK ME To Down Load Larger Pics For Printing" instruction.  This will then down load the pics in full A4 size to your computer and from there you can print them out.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact either myself 0418 674 441 or Andrew 0409 043 473

To view medium size picture on screen, just click on the pic....

The maps are great Cam,

Is there still going to be a meeting point where all the cars will be assembled and arranged by years before being sent to the show where they will then be parked ?

And if so, where will this be.

Thankyou

With regard to Drip trays, has a decision been made about can cloth be used under the cars on the Bridge?

So long as what you are using will prevent any oil that may leak from your car contacting the pavement it will be okay.  Based on this I'd avoid fabric.

I'm just going to use a rubber floormat.

You can buy plastic drip trays from Kmart for about $4-6 that will do the trick.

There about450mmx450mm in size.

Thats what i will be using, to satisfy their requirements.  :23

Guys, after investigation by Cam & a few other committee members that idea was scrapped.

We will be posting information out to those who have already entered as well as being posted in this forum.

The plan is to have all entrants drive directly to Pyrmont Bridge. ;42

I recommend you to go for a dinner at "chinta ria" cockle bay
Chinta Ria The Temple of Love

The Roof Terrace, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Park thats if you like Asian food...if not you could go for sea food @ nicks or if you feel like walking a bit you could go to Devine corner of market and clarence street (not far from darling harbour 5 min walk)

Just curious,

I know we discussed this at the last Club Meet, (about spacings around the cars). ;30

Cam can you advise whether there will be enought room on the bridge to place bollards around your vehicle? ;40

That way you can just walk off, not be too worried and visit the motor show (time permitting). ;27

Thanks

69Vette, It might be a bit tight for that.

With the number of cars we have so far, and still increasing day by day, there will be a full door opening space on EACH side of your Vette.  If you put a bollard around your Vette then the chap next to you, and you, will only have a half door opening space on that side.  Obviously if the chap next door does not mind..........  Remember that the judges have to get between the cars.  Common sense on the day will prevail.

The witching hour is approaching gang.  So if you have not got your entry forms in, get cracking.  Remember we only have limited space on the bridge and we are filling up fast.

Will the cars be lined up by age?

Has the spaces been allocated yet?

When will we know where we will be parking on the bridge?

I'll field this as Cam isn't online at the moment.

A specific chronological display will not be happening due to the logistics involved and the time it would take to process cars.

Spaces haven't been allocated yet, we will be doing that after we receive all of the entries.

People will be advised where they are parking on the bridge on the morning of the show.  For what it's worth, cars will be parked on either side of the rotating bridge span - we cannot park cars on the rotating section.

Remember that we all have to be parked by 9.00am.

The marshalls will have bright coloured vest's on so try not to run them over as they will be directing you to where to park. :22

See you all there tomorrow from 7.30am and fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us.

She's polished, the badges are on, my wind screen wipers work without having to open the door,  (it's a long story LOL!!) So lets hope the weather is good, but if not, I'm sure we will all still enjoy ourselves.

See ya's tomorrow.

P.S.
A little hint for ya drip trays.  Put them inside garbage bags when you put them under you Vette.  Then when you finished you can throw the bags into the bin and you have a nice clean dry drip tray to put back in you car.

Hey Mad.  Shame you could not get down.

Had a great time.

Many thanks to everyone who helped out and especially to all the club members for their participation in supporting our club.  Take a bow one and all.

I'll second that, I had a good day today and hope everyone else did.  I know it was a big ask for many of you to take your baby's out today with the weather we were faced with first thing in the morning.  It was great to see as many people as we had come. ;42

I think the supra scoop would of looked better if it was painted black. I'm not game enough to add "icons" as 69 DIRTY RAT would beat me up like he did to "MJ" that time.;53;48
