Title: Ordering Parts From Overseas Using Your Credit Card
Post by: Cameron 77C3 on March 24, 2006, 02:29:05 PM
I was on the phone today to the Commonwealth Banks Master Card Security Division for quite some time.

Apparently there are some scams going on overseas where certain batches of numbers of credit cards are being targeted.

To prevent this, the Commonwealth Bank has set the maximum value that can be charged on a certain batch number cards used on overseas transactions to $200 AUD.  What this means is that if your card number falls in the range of the targeted batch numbers and you try to spend more than $200 AUD overseas electronically the sale will be declined.  They informed me that this could last as short as a couple of days to weeks.  It will all depend on how long the scammers are targeting that range of batch numbers.

This came  about last night when I tried to order some goodies from Ecklers.  I have to call them back tonight and use one of my other cards.

So if your ordering goodies from the States, your credit card is with the Commonwealth Bank and your purchase is being declined, well now you know why.
