Anyone running fixed back race seats?
If so what have you found that fits?
After going through all the race seats at the local race shop, i haven't been able to find a seat that would fit me as well as my car. Any suggestions,..brands?
While i can fit comfortably in the factory seat i cant believe there isn't a race seat to suite.
!!!?????;30

I believe the car in this photo belongs to the guy who runs Vette Connection (http://www.vetteconnection.com.au/). Looks to be Sparco seats in his car.

TK is right - that car belongs (belonged?) to Phil from Vette Connection. dd on this forum and myself also have fixed back race seats in our C4's, we all run Sparcos.
I don't know if you have tried Sparcos but I know they make a few seats that fit in the "tub" of a C4. I took measurements many times before I bought my seats and it was a very close fit - but they fit.
Sparco make different size seats - I am running "Corsas" as they have the harness holes high enough for a tall person like myself, the evo is for shorter people and the evo 2 is a little wider in the base, there are a number of other models but Corsas, Evo's (both models) and Pro 2000's should all fit based on the homework I did when I bought mine. You can download the dimensions of the seats from sparcos website and do your measurements there but I would strongly recommend test sitting in a seat before you buy.
I'll post links of pics of my seats shortly.
If you have any specific questions let me know.
What brands did you try out?
Cobra may make something as well but I never really looked too hard at what they had to offer.
Hope this helps.
BTW, you think your C4 is hard to get out of now - wait till you get race seats... ;41

I haven't tried the sparcos as yet but will give them a try.
I had tried all the seats at my local "Revolution Race Gear" which are mostly OMP and Cobra and when i found a seat i could comfortably fit in i would measure it to see if it would fit in the car. The problem is the width and the clearance to the hand brake.
Did you have any clearance problem to your handbrake VO? I'm assuming your hand brake is in the same location as mine ie; beside the door sill.
-
Yep, my handbrake is on the right hand side of the drivers side floor.
No clearance issues (although from memory the cosmetics of the 84-87 cars meant the housing for the handbrake was different from 88+ cars. Yours is an 87 isn't it?
Once you find what seats you fit in and can get the external dimesnions it will be pretty straightforward to figure what will and won't fit.

Mine's a maroon 86 coupe
I'm not having much luck finding a retailer that stocks sparco seats.
Does anyone know of a retailer that has sparco seats on display in their store, as these seats cost $1000+ a piece i really want to make sure i can fit into them and that they fit my car before forking over the $$.

I know the colour - I remember how much butt you kicked those times you brought it to Wakefield for the Corvette Extravaganza's (assuming I don't have you mixed up with someone else). ;27
This pic may help:

(I have relocated the seat belts through the belt holes since taking the pic).
I know Revolution no longer carries them since the importer changed a few years back.
If memory serves me, these guys are now the Aussie distributors for Sparco. Probably best to give them a call to find out where the stockist closest to your neck of the woods.

As my vette won't be ready in time for the convention i really don't need to rush out and get these seats as yet.
Thanks VO i might take you up on that offer as i'd really like to see how the seats fit and how you've mounted them in the car.
ps. you assumed right (Wakefield is one of the reasons for these seats):22
