Wish me luck !
First move from CT to NJ , then on a enclosed unit for the trip down to LA !
-
Me fingers are crossed Chris :thumb:
Jethro
-
Thanks Jethro
I will have everything crossed for next 4 weeks or so ....
Still waiting AUS Approval to be cleared then I will ship from LA
Just hope it arrives un-scathed
-
question for you did you photoshop the wheels.
to look standard in the photo you supplied to get your approval.
I don't know just how pedantic they are at the moment but best not to give them any reason not to say yes
Bift
-
Hey Bfit
No I just supplied photos to them as is
I was not aware that the rims / wheels could be potentially a issue if they were Standard and been on the Car for past 8 years ...
I have many boxes still to tick but its a process as most of you guys already know quite well.
-
Good luck with it chris
Getting the car is half the fun
Bfit
-
Nice unit, all the best with the end result
-
Question, has the roof line been dropped (shortened) or is that the photo??
-
thanks 86er
Yes been dropped by 2 " - I hope we don't break any windscreens as it could be a issue for a replacement.... :tears:
Car was featured in Vette Magazine in the USA with a right up " Nip and Tuck " as it also has a 1980 Nose grafted on with the Original Strip Down
I have full collection of the pics will upload them soon.
Car leaves New York tomorrow bound for LA ( its a long 9 day road trip from East Coast to West Coast )
My plates arrived yesterday , Club Membership approved last week , spare keys arrive next week just waiting for the Car ... LOL
Will have to fight the Mrs for the Garage spot to move her 1972 XJ6 Jag ....

Chris,
I just hope that the roof being chopped doesn't become a issue for you when you try getting it fully registered Bro
Jethro
-
Could be a hurdle Jethro , have been discussing this with Engineers etc...
Loaded up just now ...
-
Looking Good Chris looking GOOD :thumb: :thumb:

Chris have you got import approval yet on this, just wondering as there is a 62 Impala I am looking at at the moment that has a chop top and would love to bring out but was told it would not get in. :tears:
Ross
-
Hey Ross
Will let you know soon hopefully.
Each Car is accessed on individual merit and you need to get the right people involved ( not handle it yourself ) is my recommendation
Imported Cars each have their own hurdles and obstacles
Though my mod is only minor I still have the T-Top and roof installed as normal.
I Still have a long way to go yet ...... :banghead:
Got to love the modifications on some of the 73s
-
Do you think there is any demand out there for someone to be moved to their final resting place in a vette hearse?
-
note sure but arriving in style would also be the go !
check out the Streeeeeetch !!
-
That's cool and most likely the first vette with a back seat
Lefty
-
Just got the import approval to ship to Sydney.
One more hurdle to go from US customs then we can get it on the Sea. !!
Hopefully it will arrive in time for the Bathurst run.
-
Good luck favours the brave
Bfit
-
Thanks Bfit
It's a long long process with many twists and turns.
Now located in LA.
-
Ditto on what Bfit said, the Bathurst run is a good one did it last yr and hopefully again this time.

We'll after 3 months of waiting ( approvals , shipping from one end of USA to the other , and 4 weeks on the water ) the unique Vette has ported at Botany.
Mmmmm let's hope it clears Customs without to much dramas or damage :tears:
FYI. Door to Door with all taxes , duties , GST , insurances cost was $6100.00
I did have two extra trips prior to LA.

Hi Chris,
Nice looking car.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing, from Pennsylvania. Can I ask you some questions like who did you use to get it to the west coast, and how much was that? I was quoted "about USD $1000".
Who did you use to get it to Oz?
I'll be leaving in Sept if the dollar doesn't nose dive.
I too have been waiting 20 years!!
regards,
Andy.
-
Hi Andy
I used a door to door service from east coast
It can cost from $1000 to $1400 depending on who you use.
EDI were fantastic and have a unique loading system.
Check it out on http://www.edicustoms.com.au/international-freight.htm (http://www.edicustoms.com.au/international-freight.htm)
You can email Nigel who is based in LA tell him I sent you his way.
He can give you a full break up of what it will cost
I am currently also looking to bring a project over , the states are flooded with vettes and go outside the square of ebay and you can pick up some really good deals but you have to do the leg work and be extremely careful......... Buyer beware there are some vultures out there.
Cheers

Hi Andy The club has just accquired a new sponsor who does exactly this as well as restos and any spare parts you may require. He is based in Narrenben. Pacific Classics. The owner Warren came to the club meeting last week and let us know all about his business. He imports from east and west coast of USA. He has been in the industry for a long time and is branching into corvettes. Call him on 9970 7911 . or email warren@pacificclassics.com.au
-
That's great news. :)
Could be great help.
-
Thanks Tracy and Chris,
I'll contact him now.
-
Wow, just got a quote for a set of seat belts for NSW compliance. $1000 a pair because they have to be custom made! Tell me it ain't so!
Surely its just a matter of seat belts, head lights and a blue slip???
Anyone?

For the blue slip. Chris from SMS Performance was a great help with my Vette recently. Would highly recommend him to sort your blue slip out.
