Hello everyone
just joined the forums and thought i should say hi.
My name is Ben, I live in the Blue Mountains of Sydney and I love corvettes and GM V8's in general.
I have just committed to buy a 2009 ZO6 L3Z from the states and I am working on shipping and all involved in this. Hopefully will have the car in my hot little hands by June.
I enjoy track days at Eastern creek and my current car that I track is a 2008 SS ute with a LS3 conversion, my plan will be to track the corvette untill I can afford to convert her.
I am sure I will have heaps of questions for people over the next month or so ie conversions and any info people can supply to me about the ins and outs of importing would be great. I will definately become a financial member soon and will look forward to Club runs and days out in the future.
Cheers
Ben
here she is and I am in love ha ha

Welcome aboard Ben, love your ride buddy can't wait to see it up close and personal. Rest assured buddy this site has heaps of assistance and wisdom when it comes to the conversion and that's from blokes that have walked the walk and done the ghard yards themselves :thumb:

So Ben when you expecting your new pride and joy to hit home and who you using for shipping ?
Jethro
-
I am hoping for the start of June as I have to time it so I am home and also at the start of my time off so I can enjoy her before going back to work, I work 38 days away then 32 days at home then 38 days away :-(
The car place in Chicago has provided a shipping quote through think it's main freight but I am looking at options and also with some good advice from you guys here have sent emails to Performax and also US muscle car imports who I think it will just be easy to hand over to him to do all the ground work for me as the internet can be painfull being on a boat at sea :thud:
I have a real nice ex show SS ute with a LS3 conversion in her (500rwhp) and I get home early april so I'll be able to meet up with a few people during my time off and say face to face hi's.
-
Yvette and Mick at US Muscle Cars are supposedly pretty good at importing Ben, In fact I have a rebuilt compete diff coming in with em on the next shipping container :thumb:

I wish I could see your pic mate, the stupid internet policy out here won't let me access photobucket, think there is a all GM day at Penrith coming up at the end of next month!! :thumb:

I'm sure the Commo would be welcome at Cars n Coffee, Kellyville Plaza and Harry's, quite possible you could turn up to some others as well.

Sounds great I will be there for sure the Picton one sounds great and have been to Harry's a couple of times, I think the big turn outs there are the last Saturdays of the month, but I do like the sound of the picton one and I have a mate with a 69 mustang down near Cambelltown who would be up for a run for sure. Plus the cars love the early morning colder temps ;-)

Indeed they do, the hoons also don't like the early mornings and I've only seen a cop car once, many blocks away somewhere else in Picton.

Jethro
Hey Jethro
Yeah man very happy with them, (Cargoclear) it's who performax use aswell, very easy all i had to do was get car to them in LA with minimum paperwork then the next i heard was need some money for clearing customs and LCT (luxuary car tax) and it was delivered to performax cost about 3200-3500 for their side of things and have seen photos she looks spot on. Now the LCT and other Aus goverment charges are a diff story all together bastards!!! :omg:
I have a couple of contacts with Cargoclear that i can put you onto mate, very helpfull guys.
-
Great, that's whomi used and was a very smooth process.
-
Yeah Jagsy was smooth as I asked if he needed me to do anything and he said nah like to keep it simple :pepper:

Adventure has started off to Gympie this morning to pick up vetted.

Good on ya bro :)
-
Hey everyone
Sorry it has been so long, had a bit of a bad run towards the end of last year which entailed operations of knee and shoulder ( Good old rugby )
Vetted is coming along nicely, currently getting all fitted up with custom headers, coilovers, sway bars, TB's, fuel rails and I have done a lot of cosmetic stuff, LEDs, skirts, black wrap on badges and other bits :-) Dyno'd at 430Rwhp before a few more mods like a retune after TB and exhaust system, 3" Billy boat fusion 3 - vid here of sound :drivedevil: - https://www.facebook.com/ben.walton.9212/videos/10206188567096984/?l=3075795401997291694 (https://www.facebook.com/ben.walton.9212/videos/10206188567096984/?l=3075795401997291694) - The wheel is on the post ha ha - you'll know what i mean if you watch it.
Wheels soon to arrive from the states 10" on the front running 295/25/20 on and 13.5" on the rear running 345/25/20 Forgiato rims.
Here's some pics and last one is rendering from the states of wheels.
She'll soon be out and about again.
ciao for now :hi:

-
I would be worried about a block retaining wall 1.6m high when my vet is parked next to it.
especially when the wall have been extended .
I would be asking questions about how it is designed.

Hi everyone
Thought I would share some pictures of work being done.

Pic 4 Is rear sway bar fitted with adjustable end links
Pic 5 Is Custom headers - 1 7/8" merged fully ceramic coated.
