Please don't give me sh#te for suggesting this, but, Minivans.
There is room for 4-5 adults and their luggage, and the things you acquire along the trip.
And the icebox.
You do need an icebox.....
One person drives the Van while others get to ride along in Vettes. Then you swap....
Most are V6, get great mileage and can cruise at 80-90 mph.
You can nap in the back if necessary
-
Mini van
Is that like a combi
Painted with flowers
Hay dude who's bringing the ganja ( don't pack with the bogie board that ones been tried )
Piece people

If you need to lodge your booking form please do so. It was attached to the email you received with the itinerary. As we get into Aug I will to arrange a tour meeting for those of you going.
Just in from Deb our Tour manager.
" Out of the 19 deposits I only have about 7 booking forms so I don’t have all the name details , as mentioned until Carlisle dates are set , and flights are in the system 11 months in advance of return dates I cannot physically book anything, but it is in my calendar to re quote the itinerary in the next month or so and send off requests to airlines and suppliers for group quotes.
I will try and get to a meeting or if you want to organise a tour meeting we can talk about any extras that anyone wants to organise or discuss the tour itself and options for this.
Apologies if I cannot give you something more concrete at this stage, but a bit far out as yet
Look forward to organising and booking everything in the next couple of months"

Just FYI (and potentially off the main topic)... If you want to rent a Vette, V8 Camaro or any of the other special stuff, some of the rental offices will NOT let you return it to a different rental office than where you got it from or take it out of state, so best to check carefully if you plan to do it.
I've driven a rental C6 from Los Angeles (LAX) and returned it to San Francisco without any issue (years ago), but when I tried to rent a V8 SS Camaro in Atlanta and return it in Knoxville last year they wouldn't release the car to me - I had to take a V6 as it was in a different rental category. You can get V8 Dodge Challengers without any special restrictions though.
Also... my experience has been that reserving a specific model car with the major agencies based in airports (including Hertz) means nothing. No matter what you reserve, when you arrive up at the desk they will ask what you'd like without any consideration for the specific car you booked. I had to go through all sorts of drama and wait 45 minutes after arriving when collecting my rental C6 despite having reserved the car well in advance.

Thanks for the info VO. Most of our rentals will be mini buses! We'll be spending a few days in Vegas, and if time permits some of us might look for a C7 to experience.

Thought that would be the case, just thought I'd put it out there in case someone planned to do it.
No shortage of cool stuff to rent in Vegas. :drag:

Hi Bob, I have cancelled my trip a few weeks ago :grr: I am still having a few nerve related issues with my leg after the op and also want to spent the time getting my car back on the road. I am starting to feel a bit p#issed off I did now that the date is getting closer.
Hope you all have a great trip and I am sure you will like Carlisle PA (so long as it doesn't rain).

:hi: Ross and Lynne are back from the USA. It was a great trip with fun had by all. Thanks to Debs amazing organisation skills all went very smoothly. The corvette museum and factory were great and the Corvette race day was exciting and Ross was like little boy in a candy shop at the Carlisle day. The whole trip held great interest as there was something for everyone from historical museums, civil war battle grounds, tourist attractions of Washington and New York, the excitement of Las Vegas and the amazing vista of the Grand Canyon. Thanks to everyone for your stimulating company.

Ok folks here they are, pics of the trip. Photos by Gary N, Garry C and Joe F

Very cool pics guys. I can't believe that you hit all of those locations. Very impressive. While living in OH, we hit a lot of the same locations (maybe a few more....) but we did over 3-1/2 years. I remember walking DC three days solid and walking like an 80 y/o for days afterwards from the shin splints. I hope Gettysburg was a highlight. It's of massive, massive significance to American culture (my wife wept while we were absorbing it all). Glad that you went down into the Grand Canyon - one of my big regrets that will take me back one day. Did the boys build a full set of cards from Vegas....? If you didn't then, you won't get that comment. If you did, you should have a smile on your face right now 😇😇
