Hang on CammO it's you just get back from being off  :toetapping: :toetapping:

It's a hard life Jethro but someone has to do it

Before departing I bought myself a new camera, Canon 6D.  My first full frame camera. Bought it down here with me

I think I like it.  The stars are so clear down here.  Will be playing with it over the next few night to get some star shots

Got myself another toy to compliment the Canon 6D. http://www.hahnel.ie/index.cfm/action/productSearch/pid/80 (http://www.hahnel.ie/index.cfm/action/productSearch/pid/80)
Did a short video of the stars moving from time laps shots created using the new toy.  The Intervalometer, as it's known, tells the camera to take pics automatically and whatever time sequence you select.  In this case one picture every minute for 2 hours.  120 pictures to give a few seconds of a time laps video.  The flashes of light are from the occasional passing car

(You can click on the little star wheel in the bottom right hand corner of the video to increase the quality if your speed connection is good)

Not bad we thought for our first attempt

First time I've played with it Lefty.  Lots until I get it right   I'm open to suggestions

After many a night of practice, 1244 individual pictures automatically taken every 30 seconds on a crystal clear night from sunset to sunrise, a camera battery change done quickly half way through the shoot, a couple of hours of production on a cheap laptop and a 240mb upload over a portable wireless wifi hot spot we have done it. A one and a half minute time laps video of the stars at 15 frames per second (fps). If you have a good speed internet connection watch it in full screen & HD

Latest time lapse looks fantastic.
Having trolled the YouTube back catalogue, I keep looking at the movie of this bloke running his c3 at night using a few go pros. Undstand you may not want to put your new device on the outside of your vette just to get the lighting effects, but It may give you some ideas.
