Mick from Port Motor Mania is getting in early this year with an invite for us to attend this event. Ive posted it here to give you all a look and do some forward planning if you wish to attend. We didn't go last year as our calender was pretty full but it has been mentioned that we may as a club be travelling north to this event this year. Dates are 6,7th Sept 2014.  Keep an eye out later in the year on our events calender
Hi Guys, well its on again,6th and 7th of September will be our 3rd year and it just gets better and better. Last year according to Shannon's
they had 2051 people through the Big rig on the Sunday, the third highest ever . Wow
Well plans are underway for this year's show and on the growing list of new attractions is
1.Saturday's swap and shop day, a swap meet with a difference, trash & treasure markets & auto part swap meet with vendors
from all over.
2. Saturdays cruise to long flat pub for lunch, (about 2 hours return)
3. Saturday nights bbq and open air theatre / drive in
4. over 40 trophies, with 10 specific muscle car trophies
5. more rides and amusements, side show alley
6. a dunk tank with local politicians sitting in the seat
The sky divers will show us their skills again this year, and also a jet engine display and demonstration.
The show this year is sub titled " port muscle mania" and invites are being sent to all muscle cars, usa and Australian.
Of course we will still have the Hot Rods, cruisers, best modified 4 w/d, even best work ute. I will be making a few
deals with the local motels for a discounted price .
All profits go to Port Macquarie Base Hospital , give me five for kids, and the Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
Your help this year would be great
With Thanks

About 10km outside Port is a beautiful reserve over looking a water supply dam. It's really nicely done with BBQ's and was wondering if the club would like a breaky on Saturday morning?
Happy to organise if you are interested.

:bbq:
Sounds like a plan. We have our first meeting for the year on Tuesday and will be having a look over the upcoming events. As soon as our event guys make a firm decision i will let you know.
Thanks Jagsy for the offer.

Just in from our events Coordinator
Port Mania - Come and enjoy a great weekend. Stay One, two or three nights
The actual Motor Show is on the Sunday however many have previously gone up to Port Mac from the Friday evening and made it a real social calendar event. You can visit the web site on http://www.portmotormania.net (http://www.portmotormania.net) to see what they have in store.
In the past we have arrived on the Friday afternoon, checked in and then gravitate to a bar somewhere prior to dinner at the local club.
There is a Port Motor Mania scheduled run on the Saturday for lunch. Dinner details to come once we know attendance numbers.
I have tentatively reserved 13 rooms at the Port Pacific Resort and they will only hold these room until July 4 . Best I could do…
The room rates are $128.00 (no meals) and you will need to call the resort to book the rooms under your name.
Port Pacific Resort - http://www.portpacific.com.au/ (http://www.portpacific.com.au/) - 6583 8099 (Marie). Please mention my name and that you’re from the NSW Corvette Club. Then please contact George Salman to let me know you’ve made the booking.
Really looking forward to it…

"B" and I look like going - will ring resort tomorrow and make sure there is a vacancy.
Most likely Fri thru to Mon morn. We need a holiday.
-
Great to have you with us Vettech. :thumb:
Every Corvette wife needs a break to a car show once in a while.
-
George.
"B" and I are now booked into the Resort, was surprised that she still had rooms. Now the confirmaton she sent said a two bedoom unit with all self contained - sounds good. Then again they may be giving us a special as the pools are out for - reno's - darn. I was really looking forward to a refreshing swim each morning. Now all I need is a car that will get me there.
-
Barb and I will be going all booked in. Who's going up on Friday. All booked in ready for the weekend.

Hi mate
Friday !
Every one who are not going Saturday
Bfit
We are Friday
-
We will be - however that is dependent upon getting the steering column back together - so I'm hesitant to commit at this stage else we will be in a BA - and a convoy of vetts with a BA tagging along isn't my idea of a good look.,

Friday morning gang :drivedevil:
Meeting at Thornleigh Macas at 9:30 for a 10:00 departure for a leisurely 4hr drive north. With a few stops on the way.
Looking forward to catching up with jagsy, Mick and a few other members up north. :thumb:
jagsy has suggested a Saturday morning brunch run to Corowa dam for the ones that may be slightly under the weather from the meet and greet night. :shades: sounds like a good idea to me.

Forgot to ask, Vettech how are you going with your car?
-
Yeah 72Vett - have the SW column back good enough to go (no horn though) - now I have to put "her" door back together - at this stage we will go Thursday night to Bateau Bay and on your timings we should see you at the Wyong road turnoff at ~1030ish. That of course, is on my driving times - I know some of you guys don't like to hurt your cars by driving them tooooo fast. Just keep an eye open for the "Blue Flash".
-
 :pepper: Congratulations to all 6 winners at the show today. Plus highest attendance of a car club at the event. Well done boys and girls :thumb:
8 couples have stayed for the extra night of :drunk:
-
Plus a local joining you for tea, yum can't wait.
-
Bugger, how could I forget you jagsy. Now that you have reminded me, there are another 2 more locals joining us for dinner.
-
Ladies & Gents - I would like to say that "B" and I had a good break, your company was appreciated, I'm really glad that in the final wash, 72vette made the Sunday Show day and won an award. It's a pity that Gary had to leave early and missed showing his car. Also a big vote of apprecition for 72vettes persistance, knowledge and abilities in finding, fixing and getting Gary roadworthy for the return trip to Sydney - a "bloody good job well done". Plus a thank you to the local Port guys for the invite, and organizing they were involved in. Thanks one and all.
-
Thanks Vettech, for the over exaggerated kind words, but I’ll take them. :thumb:
The club, as it is at the moment, If a member requires assistance/help it’s always to be found.
Conditions heading to Port Mac on Friday were quite dangerous for a convoy of seven cars to assist every time Gary & Deb’s car needed help so it was better for some to leave.
Then it was three. Gary & Deb with the fuel issue, myself and Sharon with Neil and Deb in the cover vehicle. Those two in the cover car must have had nerves of steel to sit there like woodducks with cars & BIG trucks hurtling down the freeway, trying to protect the little blue corvettes! Onya MR & Mrs niel 58
To the locals in Port Mac. Mick and Jagsy. Thank you for your help over the weekend guys. Much appreciated.
-
Thanks guys, we had a great weekend too. Look forward to seeing you at the next event.
-
Thanks for the kind words Nick, riding cover was easier then getting out in the rain like you. Was a great weekend we had a great time. :thumb: Was a real buss everyone getting the trophies.

I'm shattered! So much for having the only Excalibur roadster in Oz :grr: :tears:

I'm shattered! So much for having the only Excalibur roadster in Oz :grr: :tears:
Now you have 1 of only three in Oz Sabre. :therethere:
-
Don't fret Sabre. As I said earlier, your white would beat that one hands down. And the blue is like the girl sorry woman at the end of the bar - looks great from afar or in a pic - but get up close and "WHOA" ....... obviously seen better days a long time ago.
-
Hey sabre, I think the guy at the show is local to Port and I understand he has more than 2. I thought someone mentioned he had 12, but that might not be true!!!!

Your right jagsy. I've been in contact with the guy and he has 9 in various states. I think the two he had at the show are the better of his collection. I also understand that there is a total of 16 Excaliburs in Australia so he owns a big chunk of them. He has apparently got a lot of spares from a buyout of a dealership in the US when the dealer network was folding so I need to keep on his good side.
Pity I wasn't able to get to the show this year as it would have been nice to meet him in person.
