Title: C7 in person
Post by: jagsy on January 24, 2014, 06:42:30 PM
Hi
I was very lucky to get up close with a C7 recently in Hamilton NZ. Very nice car and wouldn't say no to one, but still love my Z.

This was only the Stingray but a few comments:
- place on front grille for rego good
- black valance on rear high, not sure I like but will stop tar spots showing
- back end seems much higher the C6, ie the underneath from floor
- interior is beautiful.  Look forward to a RHD and I hope they do a good job!!!
- door handle opening very small, for me with largish hands and rings will scratch paint if not careful.
- cold air induction now has 90 degree bend!!  I know a lot of cars do but I also know a lot of cars have better power with the air going straight into the engine!
- still not sure of the rear lights!!!  My opinion is they are similar to what the Camaro has had, but the 2014 Camaro has changed to a beautiful rear light and rear end design.
- love the lines of the roof and down over the back window, but rear view visibility now reduced
- not sure on the c pillar window yet

Yes they remains LHD!!!!

The sales yard the C7 was at was brilliant circa 10 Camaro's, 10 Stangs, Challengers Vipers Charges and Vettes.

There are rules that some US vehicles have to be converted but those mentioned above can remains LHD.

I saw heaps on the road!!!

I think that's the car yard next to the old V8 street circuit.  I saw a C6 for sale there on the way to the track a couple of years ago.  Also made me cry when he said they don't have to convert them.  :tears:

mabey we need to get ALL the car clubs in NSW to get the ball rolling on conversions and keeping them left hand drive. especially if you got the car registered on club plates, you should be llowed to drive what ever the hell you want on the roads. we pay for the damm roads with expensive rego and taxes. No Im getting p#issed off!

Better still, I will move back to America, you can drive what ever the hell you want over there! and carry a .44 magum on your belt

OH and on the other thing, I prefer a "Heckler & Kock" say a P2000, another light weight plastic unit, only 9mm but in the right hands deadly enough.

In the song by Jlo lets get loud.I am  at witts ends about all this conversion stuff and the main one is not even in this state lol..Organise a petition attend the council of motor clubs regularly meetings and voice your concern we are members who never attend them and maybe it may happen the outrages expense and destruction of balance  design collectability and all overall charisma of a very unique motor car and that almost no one does convert them in this state would be enough to convince the council who has the power and contacts with the rms to make the changes required to stop the butchery.worthless to sell back to the yanks they are laughing. The mustang I believe will arrive in 2017 maybe then the floodgates will open to this stupidity even if its a special permit to own and drive lets stop this nonesense.NZ it appears is way ahead of us and seems most of Australia is as well lol lol......... :banghead: :banghead:

I think, we are the only RHD country, that wont allow NEW "low volume" or "special interest" LHD cars on the road ?
Like I've said before.
You can register some old LHD Piece of crap, that doesn't stop, steer and will probably kill you if you hit something, but you cant have a new LHD car with every safety feature and driver aid known to man !
Why you have to spend (up to 50K) to butcher a perfectly good car is beyond me
It cant be about protecting a local industry and the "safety" argument is just plain ridiculous !
If you feel that strongly about it, start writing letters  :banghead:  good luck
Rant over

Unfortunately, in WA.. the motor registry I believe is governed by the Planning Department....lol... check it out.... in NSW we have the most unbelievable laws and restrictions... and most taxes, most expensive living and on and on !!!!

Jagsy, we live in a very lucky Country, if you take into consideration all the stuff that's happening in the states at the moment ( eg: martial law, fema camps, obamacare, micro chipping, nsa etc), lets hope that doesn't happen here !!

Couldnt agree more I would just love the opportunity but dont want the hassles of conversion.

Maybe just maybe we can start the ball rolling at the bbq venue this week and get some advise
and direction and maybe petition to end this nonesense,,sry performax like WA you are somewhere else.
