Post by: raafrebel on November 17, 2013, 05:50:33 PM
Havent been here for a while, been busy.

At long last my modifications to my 69 tri-power are almost complete!! looking forward to getting the car back out and about. I will check the upcoming club runs and join in on a few.

Its been a lot of work,  and i will post some pics soon as i can. everything will be done exept a new paint job, that can wait a while as my bank account is nearly 25k empty!!

Yes i will post some when i get it back. The car is at my mechanics for the fidly bits

Most of the work is under the car. every single nut, bolt ,bush , bearing , brake and suspention part has been replaced.

I even replaced ALL the brake and fuel lines, new callipers, disks, suspention, rebuilt trailing arms , hand brake , ball joints, EVERYTHING!! what a big job!!
spent hrs and hrs cleaning the frame. I even installed new power brakes as it didnt have a booster before.

I cant wait to hear the side pipes!!

next is the interior, seat foam and covers (doesnt really need it but i want leather), and new carpet.

I was goint to sell this Tri-power, but decided to keep it. so far, ive spent nearly 25k on it. as all of you know here, that gets about a quarter of a re-build!! ha ha

lucky for me the previuos owner has already done the engine and gearbox, so that is all good.

the rear trailing arm wheel bearings were SO bad, that when i had trailing arms out , i could not turn the hubs!! Lucky i didnt see one of my FOOSE wheels go rolling past me !!

it should be like driving a NEW car, well it bloody better!!

extremly disapointed i never got to take my car to this years bathurst races or the rouse hill show, but soon i will be there!!

Man, Im soooo glad i didnt sell this car, some idiot told me its only worth $45k. when its done, i think it will be worth at least 75k. but will all the hard work and hours spent on it, its staying in my collection!!
I will post some more photos when I go take a few more of the near finished underside.

Its been off the road now for 5 months and its killing me!! lucky for me i ride motorcycles as well!!

You will have to make something or buy her asbestos stockings.
The factory sidepipes are less likely to bite..

I agree
side pipes look great., other than that
I can't think of anything else good about them
if they are not set up correctly they will hit the body and most do.
or hit the chassis .
spend enough time you will get them right .
but they are still going to burn you from time to time

Raafrebel, the Audi TTs is a 2 litre powerhouse, in standard form they produce 200kw, and then they have the five cylinder 2.5L TT RS which is another crazy car.

The V8 Audi your referring to is an A5. They also have an S and RS version of them as well, and are comparatively in the area of HSV performance.

I aggree , how do you do it? I installed new spring, composite. how would i lower it?
Title: Re: Its nearly done!!
Post by: Jethro on January 21, 2014, 05:19:07 PM
To easy Dan,

See these two Rear Spring Bolts on either side of the transverse Springs, well these are off a C4  and bout 8" long bolt because the original bolts would not bring it down low enough for my liking . However in your case just wind the nyloc nuts back down the Rear Spring Bolts and it'll lower the arse end of your vette!

Just do a bit at a time and always leave at least two full treads of the Rear Spring Bolts sicking out  :thumb:
