will be getting a tranmission service soon and they asked does pan come off without removing the exhaust. (85 model)
does anyone know so i dont have to jack it up and get under there.
i think they want to charge me accordingly to remove the exhaust.

No, the exhaust has to be removed, this insettles everything. The auto in mine was fully rebuilt at a shop in Blacktown, i recall the name was Globe, and being in a performance car they only gave six months warrenty. Panther on this forum can tell you more.

Mine was rebuilt last July by Precise Automatics, at Beeleigh Brisbane.
I know it's a long way away - but then I'm further away here in Cairns at 2000kms than you are in Sydney!!!
Neil Maxwell is a specialist, builds for race and drag cars, he made my box more heavy duty but still smooth to drive - in his words - "shift smooth when driving smooth, shift firm when driving hard" and he did just that. Very happy with the result, I has some broken bits inside my old tranny. Job cost $2500.
