Title: July 1st Go Karting day at Eastern Creek

Some idea just came to my mind...If you guys are intrested we could may be organise a day go karting at eastern creek in the next 2 months...We could may be organise the brekky or lunch at my workshop and then go racing...

may be C'3s against C'4s ;46

let us see whether there are many people intrested

Ok I will work on it right away and I will put a date for evryone...I guess we could make it as an official run but it all depends on how many people can be on the track at the same time..

Depends on where we run in the karts I think - if we do Eastern Creek I'd say to do it after a brekky run, otherwise, maybe we should just meet up and do a get together at Joes before or after.... otherwise you will be up for probably an hour minimum drive between spots which will likely put some off.  Just my opinion.

Eastern Creek is an awesome experirnce (I've done a 1 hour enduro their with a co-driver which was awsome but not cheap - and I think their track is the best).

Let's see what Kembla Grange has to offer tomorrow and see.

I reckon we should meet up at the karts and then back for lunch (bbq) or aftenoon tea at my workshop...

Today i went to Picton had a look at the track, not bad at all however Eastern creek would be closer to my workshop (15min) rather 45 min from Picton!

NOW WE HAVE Z06, VO, 69vette, 86er, Cameron, brianvette, Boshvette, 72vet, reserved, vet-005, Smokem, and Garry N (who is not active here) and Jolinari

If I can throw my two cents in, what do you guys think about the passing areas at Picton?  As best as I can see there arent many which could make for less fun.  Just my two cents.

Havn't raced for a long time let alone won anything ! And i'm carrying a fair bit of handicap(conditioning) these days. I think some of the lighter guys will have to give me a start, 'cause its all about power to weight.
Still I'm looking forward to giving the C3's a bit ofa run.
P.S. Can't do this on the June long weekend, as I'm racing at Coffs Harbour in the East Coast over 40,s titles

Sorry Joe.  Forgot about the long weekend.    July might be the go since June is so busy.

The only two dates that are booked in july is the 8th and 15th.

That leaves the 1st 22nd and 29th.  All of which are Sundays.

Looks like everyone is happy with a Sunday outing.
Sat 30th June and Sun 1st July is Motorex.
Sun 8th July is Western Breakfast.
Sun 15th July is Christmas in July aka Vettes in Robertson.
Sat 21st and Sun 22nd is V8 round Qld raceway.
Sat 28th/Sun 29th appears to be free.
phwew!! Busy month.

Well Joe sounds like most like the1st July with Alpha option but we still need to hear from 69vette, 86er, reserved and Smokem.

Ok guys I spoke to Joe and he got me to chase it up. Just got off the phone to Eeastren Creek.  Track times are:-

Alpha is about 1hr 15 minutes

Beta is about 45 minutes.

I'm still happy with Alpha.  You guys???

Spoke to Reserved on Sat he is in and Smokem should be able to come depending on a trip away he has to do around that time.  Both are happy with option Alpha.

Smokem said he would confirm later next week.  Cous may be interested too.

Called into the Eastern Creek karts today and got some information. The package that we have voted on is called Mini Grand Prix, 4 Heats & the Grand final. Track time is around 1.5 to 2.0 hrs .If we have 10-20 drivers all LUNATICS will be on the track together but If there are more than 20 we will be split into two groups & the circuit will be book for 4.5hrs instead of 3hrs. Cost $ 199.00 per person.The 1/7/07 is vacant for a 9.00am start so we need to have final numbers and the deposit.

Eastern creek phoned to confirm our booking for the 1st of July it's booked for a 9.00am start you need to be there by 8.30. Photo ID needed to register. Helmets,Racesuits, Gloves & Hairnets are supplied. Bring enclosed shoes.The first hour will be taken up with Registration forms & Driver Training/Safety Briefing.

Numbers have to be confirmed by the 15/6/07

Just an update gang.

From the discussions we had at last nights club meeting, the boys are also putting a BBQ together after the Go Karts.  This will be at $5.00 per head.

Where:-
At our warmer months Tuesday Night BBQ spot Doonside

Directions:-
If traveling westbound along the M4 take, Reservoir Rd Blacktown exit, turn right and follow to Great Western Highway, turn left onto Great Western Highway to the Shell garage at Eastern Creek then turn right into Doonside Rd. Then Turn right at second set of lights into Douglas Rd, take 1st left into Rosenthal and the park is 200m on the left hand side.

If traveling southbound on M4, take Reservoir Rd exit turn left and follow to Great Western Highway, turn left onto GWH to the Shell garage at Eastern Creek turn right into Doonside Rd. Turn right at second set lights into Douglas Rd, take 1st left into Rosenthal St and the park is 200m on the left hand side.


As for the, "what do you get  for ya $5.00" :-

"Thin snags, chicken skewers (get in early on these), ;39  onions, sliced bread, margarine, sauces tomato & bbq,  coleslaw, salad, dips & crackers, soft drinks & water, plastic cutlery, plates.  If they want they can bring their own alcohol.

There is some seating for people but if some could bring their own it would help.

There are amenities"



Initally the boys need to get the $199 off everyone up front.

Nick has given me a list of who he has money off and who he has contacted so far.

As for payment, give Joe a call on 04 04 04 2393 and transfer it electronically to his account or you can give Nick  cash on the Western breaky run this weekend if your attending.

I will be calling all outstanding people over the next couple of days to help out here in organising the money.

The $5.00 for the BBQ is over and above the $199.  Of course the BBQ is not compulsory.

For the ones that are paying on the day there is a 3% surcharge on credit card transactions so bring $$$$.

Due to the amount of people they have to split us into two groups you still get the same amount of track time.

If you're going to the BBQ could you please bring along a chair or two. There is seating available but not for 30 + people (Anyone want to be chef for the day), don't forget there is a $5.00 per head for the BBQ any profit will go to the club kitty

A) coming down who lives in the mountains

OR

 B) could possibly pick him up at one of the railway stations on that line

Something tells me most of the folks who went karting today feel like me and are sleeping it off. ;40  Awesome day, I just wish I wasn't so knackered.

Top day lads.  I too would like to thank Nick and Joe for organising this.  Well done lads.  Had a blast.  I'm going to pay for it later in the week.

Great shots Nick.  There are a stack on my camera which I have to go through.  Many thanks Mrs Vettenut for takeing them for me.

I also agree, well done Canberra lads. Good to catch up with ya's again.

nifty I agree that the karts we had needed a little bit more hp for the long sections of the track but as a first timer  I'm not complaining too much;laugh  :) :)

for sure thet are great fun.......but if given the chance try and get a drive of a clubman kart...they only have 15hp or so but the 4 strokes only have about 5hp.
i raced clubman for a number of years,including on a street circuit,where i was clocked by police radar at 156kph.an inch off the ground...sounds fast ...but the higher powered karts were the twin supers.....using 2 x 100cc read valve motors,putting out about 35hp on methanol and revving to 26,000 rpm....yeeeeaaahhhh baby.they were topping out at 210kph...no gears or clutch...direct drive.funny thing was in all classes they used a 380zx as a pace car....cept for the supers who kicked him out the way because he was going to slow for the roll around.

nifty the way that i am at the moment the rigor mortis has set in,the pain killers aren't working ;41

 I would imagine the extra hp + if the kart was tuned to your own individual driving it would only get better.

I saw a twin super in a kart shop when I went with a friend to get his Rotax fixed.  I saw the thing and realising how quick it would be expressed an interest.  The guy wouldn't sell it to me unless I had a certain level karting license - said I'd kill myself.  He was probably right.  ;41

While more power would be nice down the long straights today I found I wasn't driving the 13hp kart I had today to its potential - straights would be more fun but I was working just to improve my lines and driving technique.   I'm also sure we would have gotten into bigger and nastier prangs if we were going faster today. ;40

Yea guys must admit had a blast would have been nice if the officials gave us a bit more freedom and stoped BLACK FLAGING  ;45 for toughing the ripple strip but all in all was a great day.
I am feeling fine no real aches and pains even got up and went to the gym this morning at 6am.
Can't wait for the next one.;27

you need a correctly fitting seat.firm but not tight.plays a huge role in pain relief.too loose and you flop about,too tight and you use muscles that hardly ever get used.i cracked 2 rips from using a too loose seat.i will find and  scan a pic of me in my clubman,crossed up on 3 wheels at 80kph.damn i miss it.but even after racing a kart for 5 years,when i had a drive of a twin clubman,nearly identical to mine but with another engine,its a totally different animal.everything happens quicker,and the pain level rises.your forearms get a major work out.i shudder to think what a twin super is like,they run 4 wheel disc brakes,front brakes normally use a lever bit like a motorbike under the steering wheel.the clubby like most karts uses a single disc on the rear axle,twin clubby uses 2 discs on the rear.but them supers......man oh man...i went to the australian champs as a spectator...750 drivers,and constant racing....lots going on .but the supers were the ONLY class to stop everyone from what they were doing and crowd the fence.my mate had a kart that raced with them,but he only had a sinlgle 135cc engine,and cops a lighter weight than normal to try and keep up.haha not a chance.them things boggie.and V.O. he was correct,i think you need 3 yrs experience before you can APPLY for a license to drive them.

What a blast, although really feeling it today. It was great meeting many of you guys and catching up with others, well worth the trip up from Canberra.(just near Fyshwick)

I would say as most of us are novices that these 13hp gokarts were fast enough.(geez did i just say that)
Sure you could always do with a bit more straight line speed  but catering for everyone as a whole, i thought
they provided plenty of thrills.

At the next gocart day i have this funny feeling that the black flags around the track will mysteriously disapear, probably taken by the black flag bandits only to be found the following day turfed behind the back fence;56

Thanks Nick and Joe for organising this event.
Also thanks for the great BBQ afterwards.;42

what a bloody great day,slept for a week after it though.thanks to jo and nick for getting this one organised and letting the canberra guys crash(i did alot of that) the party.we had a real blast.
