Title: You can now transfer your Personalised Plates to anyone

You can now transfer your Personalised Plates to anyone!

Previously you couldn't transfer Personalised Plates which we thought was a bit ordinary. So we worked with Roads and Maritime Services to change this - and now you can.

So just think, how many times has someone said 'hey I love your plates'!? Well, now you can say 'do you want them?'

To find out how you can transfer your plates, give our Plate Specialists a call on 131 758 during business hours (8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am-12pm on Saturdays) and they'll explain how it all works.

I was under the impression , you could always transfer your personalised plates . there is just the fee`s  to do so and yearly on going fee`s.
its all personalised, so there has to be a profit  or nothing happens.

Only the high-priced premium (or whatever they call them) plates were transferable. Those like my XX-999 style black and white had to be handed back to RMS when you sold the car if you didn't transfer them to another of your own vehicles.

I investigated this procedural BS a while back when I spotted a B&W XX-999 plate that I liked. The process was: I had to buy the car from the guy with the plates attached, then transfer the plates to my other vehicle, then get plain vanilla RMS plates for the car I bought, then sell that car. And, of course, I had to pay the annual fee for the XX-999 plates.

I haven't yet looked at what the new process is that they refer to in the email I got.

And I'd bet my bottom dollar they have a lot more individual steps that will each cost ~ $45 ea per step.

They are thieves, other States are much better.

The government of NSW has been a pack of thieves since the Rum Rebellion (1808).

'personalised plates' but I bet you can't do it to regular plates.

My Plates are a bunch of scabs, in the past you could get regular plates ABC-123, etc. to your choice as long as it wasn't taken, you just paid about $110 for as long as you could keep it, no yearly fee.

Today, if you are lucky enough to have done this prior to the scabs taking over and you damage those plates and want a replacement, they will give you the plate off the top of the pile, if you want the same plate you previously had, they consider that custom and will now charge you their yearly fee. Previously you just paid $27 for a replacement pair, no ongoing fees.

:(

.... and the fees they collect go into their pockets, not into our roads as was previous with the RTA. They're a private company that pay pittance to the govt. to run their service.
