Currently restoring my wheels to instal my new set of tires...Just wondering whether you d be able to know what is the color code of the silver paint?
I have consulted my NCRS book but no such information is available?
I know that i could get them from the states but they do not ship them by air...
cheers

hi joe, ecklers sell the ralley sport silver in a spray can & can deliver this to you,or powder coating would look really trick but not original.i just use the spray can method ,just about every time the centre cap comes off the paint chips and i am forever touching up the rims.from factory allso i heard that it is comon to find runs in the piant on the rims, apart from checking most of my books i came up empty on the colour code, maybe murry could help out on this one?corvette america have listed part 1593 rallye wheel authentic silver grey piant in a 11.7 oz aerosol can for $11 ............hope this helps let us know how you go.:23

Thanks for the info Mad...I have also posted my question on the NCRS web and this is one reply i received:
"PPG/Ditzler has a code for Argent Silver, don't know what brands of paint are available down under but AS should be a universal color/formula. I had a quart of enamel mixed up which was enough for 8 wheels. I had the guy add about 3 drops of green tint. I painted the backside semi-flat black first and then sprayed the silver. There should be a little silver overspray on the black, at least there was on Camaro wheels."

I use a sand blast method and then spray paint straight away. I use an alloy spray paint as it is designed for alloy wheels.
I think that some rims were black on the inside with only the silver on the outside.
When painting rims put a steel pole throught the centre of the rim or rims and mount the pole horizontal.
This way you can rotate the rim while painting.
The "alloy" aerosol spray can look is very good, not sure as to it colour match for original.
Always use heat lamps to warm the rims before painting this will prevent most runs and results in a harder paint finish.:pinki:{;28

Thanks Glen...i am painting them indeed.
I have 2 options:
option a) airbrush expenisve one
option b) Pin stripe ( Apparenttly this method is an alternative to airbrushing...and some people argue it is much better than airbrushing)
I am still considering both options...will keep you tuned!
