Just wondering if any one has any knowledge about the last 6 digits of the VIN number on a 1970 vette matching the engine number . I thought they should match but others tell me that they did'nt match with VIN that year , Is this true
-
original engine has VIN derivative
To answer your question. Yes, the engine stamping should match the VIN on a correct car

Yeah thanks for your help , I thought they should match , I'm looking at buying this car which is a hot car by the way , But would prefer a matching No's car , Is a shame . Its a 1970 coupe with VIN 194370S412218 and engine number is T0706CKW . Also is there anyway one can find out what that car would of come out with from factory apart from the spec sheet on top of the fuel tank , I do know this car is wrong colour by looking at the plate on left hand door post , Have tried different sources but no one seems to have much info on these cars . Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks again ........

Gee thats alright , Plenty of info there , Might give that car a miss then , The numbers on the door post is Trim 400 , Paint 976 and it had chev f13 on top of it .

By the way , Does anyone know anyone who has a neat 1970 matching number red coupe vette for sale......Thanks ;)

Trim 400 must be Vinyl Upholstery Black
976 must be Mulsanne Blue
Hey dude if it is not original, it does not mean that the car is not good or not worth it. Consider the car if it is well priced unless you only want original stuff, but be prepared to pay premuims!!!

Yeah is hot looking car its been repainted a red colour which needs repainting again but the price is fair , Thanks for the advice champ............;42
