Face Book
I wonder how many club members are not on the club face book page.
I’m not in that group, as I don’t think the club needs FB.
It’s to hard to control content. Is just one reason.
As I remember it the page was to support the info feed on club related information.
And supply general information to the public about the club.
If my recollection is correct , I would like to know, is the FB page fulfilling this agenda.
I’m informed my word of mouth, ie third hand info, that our page if not supporting our club too the clubs best advantage.

I'm not on F***book at all, and that's how it will remain.

Hi Bfit and and Gtc
Yes we have a FB page and along with updating news of our club, it also allows advertising third party events on the same day the club has organised its own events.
There is a very good annual event which this year has been organised for the 11th August. It is the Brass Monkey run that I attended last year. About 15 cars were involved and we went up to the Blue Mountains. The event was organise by Wayne who had taken some considerable time to plan and put in place a great day out.
Now however, our club has allowed some third party run event to be advertised for the same day as Wayne's event. This immediately causes concern that now we have an issue whereby our members may not attend our organised events and going elsewhere.
Wayne's run may be impacted by us giving options out on the day to go to other non club events. It will be interesting to see if the same occurs for our annual Show and Shine at the end of August.

:hi:I don't do facebook. :thumb:

I don't do FB either not interested. I do think it has had a adverse affect on our Forum content. I also think these other runs advertised on our FB and Forum are not the right thing for our club. Ray

PS. Jim you are either in a different time zone or have a serious sleeping problem. Ray

Adverse Effect .
Is an understatement , try searching for the info for last weekends Xmas in July,
People have busy lives and don't seem to have the time to interact with others on the forum. they would rather have info feed to them on social media.
Now there is a contradiction in terms Social Media , really Social Media.
I see young people who can not carry a conversation face to face, but they can sit on opposite sides of a room and text either other.
WTF is going on in the world .
Its phone not a life still
I digress some what, however its all relevant. I know that this is an abhorrent idea to a lot of people, try leaving the phone off for just 4 hours a day and enjoy the world.

The forum's Notify feature allows members to get emails when there are new posts for chosen topics or sections (such as runs and events).

I may be wrong but I don’t think that run was posted on the forum.
I’m open to be proven wrong.

Hi guys
I find FB much easier to update than the forum page.
The forum page provides info in a different way.
IMO both are needed.
I wish they could be linked.
-
I dont have the FB page.
For the club that you pay your dues for the forum must be
the only option for all club issues events chats pics and
getting to know fellow members and sharing ideas about C models
Seems we cant find a President that is a huge concern
Anyone on Historic plates club rego you know where you should be
So whatever happens there I dont give a rats.

Posting here couldn't be simpler.

If I had my way the FB page would be gone.
BUT
This is a democratic group, and the majority seem to want the FB page.

True.
So many are on fb and check it regularly so they get the info quicker and can share events to a much larger audience, I'm sure there's many that aren't in the club or a forum member but would attend a local show n shine for example.

FB has its place , no doubt.
Unfortunately FB has become I life still for some , IMO that is not good for anyone.
