G'day all,
I'm helping a mate get his C3 back on the road and need to fit seat belts which of course have to be lap / sash. Originally the car only had lap belts and has no upper mount for the belt to attach to so I need either a pair or one upper seat frame so I cam modify the existing seats and fit the seat belt holes or if some has two swap them over? Please txt 0427 527237 or email ollie68@bigpond.com .
if you have any or any clues who might here is Australia please drop us line. Reconditioned are available ex USA for $180 usd if I get stuck.
Cheers Ollie

I'm sure Mr fixalot will get intouch with you . He is the man to talk to Phone Geoff 0417473492 Good Luke .Ray
-
I know Geoff does the seat belts but I need the seat upper frames as seat belts have already been supplied.
-
What year C3? 68's are allowed lap only. Pre ADR. the Sash mounted to the top of the rear wheel arch. It wont pass if the belt is mounted to the top of the seat.

Hi Ollie if you are going to go with belts thru seats you will need the escutcheon which screws on back side of seat & also there is an internal slide for webbing to run over thru seat frame I have a full set new in bags here if you are interested give me a call. The window in the diecast metal trim strip on the front side can be drilled & filed out quite easily
-
Thanks Geoff,
Unfortunately I have too go with through the seat as there is no upper mount at the top of the pillar for the upper section to bolt to.
I've got all the bits I need and have removed the die cast section you mentioned all ready.
It was only when I removed the covers I found I was in the sh#t :banghead:
If I cant find any here in aus I will order a reco set from the US.
Cheers Ollie

Ollie, I have some C3 seats which may be suitable, I will look at them tonight
-
I have a solution for mount on pillar using the belts you have if that will work for you
-
So are you saying some seat backs come with hole for belt & some dont ?

If you need a pair of seats I have two out of a 70 model.
I’ll post a photo tomorrow to show you how my lap/sash seat belts look

Thats right, I dunno why or how but if you ordered lap sash you got the holy seat for the belt to go through.

I have a pair of seats that are out of the car but the seat belts that have been supplied are designed to go through the seat, not around it.
Its not uncommon for the seat belts to go through the seats.

Id be keen to have a look at it?

I think you could argue, to only have a lap belt , fixalot would know about that.
Your pre 72 a lot depends on who does your blue slip and their knowledge of the laws.
Even though you say your car is a 71 model if it was manufactured in 1970 , like a lot of 71 models were, by Australian law the car is a 1970 model .if manufactured in 1970.
This is an important fact when you are arguing your point at registration time.

Not a hope down here in Mexico ( Vic )
Its has to have lap sash inertia belts.
Pre 68 no worries but anything from Jan 1 1969 and its gotta meet the ADR's.

I’ll get you a photo of my set up. It’s a variation on fixalots method
If your handy with tooling it’s not hard to make it look stock.
I personally don’t like the anchor point on the rear lounge compartment floor.
Mine is mounted on the bottom of the pillar .
A photo is worth a thousand words as they say.
Tomorrow

Ps fixalot can supply you a kit do do the job

Im gunna ring him tomorrow arvo and have a chat.

Ollie, the seats I have have the holes through from the back but the trim is not cut out on the front. you can poke your finger through to the front. Located in Melb eastern suburbs. Let me know if you are interested
-
Here is an option you can use. works for me. orientation dint work to well but you will get the idea.
-
Bob that is a similar setup to what I supply for 78-82 cars most people aren't comfortable with having to cut slots & drill holes in trim panels, you only get one go cutting that slot for belt to come out of so webbing doesn't rub. Most people want a bolt in set up with no modification is the first question that is asked

agree with that .

My 78 has the original basic seats, the seat belt is a retractable lapsash type, one end anchored at base of B pillar, with the inertia real located in top of B pillar covered by a plastic shroud. The third point is to the floor, on the side of transmission hump. Base seat layout.
-
I dont believe I got that pic to upload, this is the layout for the Anniversary model seat which was then std for 79 thru 82.
-
I dont know if this is at all helpfull, but I'm on a roll with uploading pics, so this pic may also help.
