Title: Heater Core Bypass - URGENT need the car
Post by: COD on November 30, 2014, 04:55:11 PM
Was changing my heater hoses and must have yanked too hard on one of the hoses going to the heater core.  Yep you guessed it, the heater core now leaks.  I need the car on Tuesday to take my son to his school formal, so I need to bypass the core.  Problem is, one hose is 3/4" and the other 5/8".  Does anyone know where you can get a connector with different sizes?  Is there another way around this as a temporary fix?

Go to Bunnings and look for irrigation fittings - you should be able to mate together a collection to do what you want.

Brass is best (will pretty much last forever), galvanised next (the gal will leach off), plastic worst (it will soften).

Do not leave this in place any longer than absolutely necessary.

I did this once on a C3 I had.

I went through the radiator hose bin at auto one and found a how with both sizes on either end. Fitted on the carpark when my heater hose split.  It's still one br car a year later.

If you buy a piece of new 5/8'' heater hose It will stretch over the 3/4 fitting with some grease inside the hose
