Post by: gumby66 on January 18, 2011, 06:09:58 PM
Hi all, My 77 vette has a very tired 350 in it and Im thinking of getting a crate motor which will bolt straight in.

Any suggestions on where i can get a good crate motor from and if i was going to go for some extra horse power what performance motors or add ons would you guys suggest

Im in Sydney, so hopefully there is someone local who can supply good performance and crate motors here

I'd suggest you go visit Eagle Auto parts in Marigold Place Revesby. You can drool over all the crate motors and make your own mind up about which one to go for. Dave & Tony are the guys behind the counter. If you go to their website you'll see some of the offerings.

Very nice.  Plenty to get excited over with any of those packages.

My only thought is what happens with warranty with an imported engine?

I was going to say go the 427.

Don't get too greedy with the Dollar or you could miss it.  It's like playing the stick market.  LOL!!

i.e.
$9250 @ $1.05 = $8809

$9250 @ $1.10 = $8409

If anyone is interested I have found another company that its looking like I will be using to build my new motor, see link below.

https://www.patriot-performance.com/xcart/product.php?productid=213&cat=69&page=1

this leaves enough money to get a 5 speed as well. woo hoo.

:drag:

P.S how good is the dollar right now.

You would have to look over seas  and see what around
But  don't wait for the dollar to  long
Remember  its a two way  thing  in twelve months it could be back at  last years levels.
I personally looking for  either  a 502 or 572  to buy
And a 5 speed would be nice

hey Bfit,

funny you mention a 5 speed, because of the price im paying for this motor im getting a 5 speed as well from Gene at Powertrain he is going to send the box direct to Patriot and Chad at Patriot is going to package it all together for me as one item.

here Gene's details at powertrain, I called him the other night he was very helpful and worked out everything I needed no problem.

also maybe look at the big block option at Patriot here's a link  https://www.patriot-performance.com/xcart/product.php?productid=226&cat=69&page=1

mabye we can combine a cheaper freight deal??

I see you are a local ( being Wollongong )
I read up on that engine
700+ HP is some grunt for a road vehicle
Impressive.
If you can get  a good deal of that torque to the ground

I have  would like to see how it will go on the 1/4 mile

Hi everyone
I am also from Wollongong and I am about to repower my C3 and intend to visit Eagle on Monday. Can I correctly assume that the 330 hp roller cam engine will bolt straight up to my TH 350?
Thanks in advance
Darylle

Thank you sirfixalot.
I wanted to go with Eagle primarily because they were local (sort of) but upon arrival at the premises there were signs everywhere confirming they were relocating to Melbourne. Now I am looking at maybe importing a 383 from USA, does anyone have any feedback to share pro's or cons?

Looks like t Eagle got lots of good stuff. Hoping to visit them soon. We will be working on the Corvette right after we installed the Smittybilt (http://4wheelonline.com/jeep/smittybilt.93516) stuff on the current Jeep project.
