Title: Wanted: C4/87 Power Steer Pump Mounting Bracket.
Post by: Vettech on March 12, 2018, 06:07:45 PM
If any one has P/S pump mounting bracket to suit C4 (87) either with or without the pump fitted, please email, pm or just on the forum, let me know.
 I can pick up.
Now I believe any frame from 84 thru 88 and maybe later will do.

The P/S pump is still attatched to frame, and plumbed to the rack, the frame is very light diecast, I dont believe it would weld with strength.

Hope some one in Sydney or around has one.

If not - then I agree our friend in Melb will.

Before it goes back, I think a re-design of Ps hoses and fittings will be in order, maybe also rip off the rack and overhaul and remount.

if you have a sample and some steel it can be fixed.
so what's  so  unique with this bracket?  will a LS1 pump fit? I have one attached to an LS1 motor. easy swap

I'll take a pic and send. I would imagine that nothing on a LS1 would fit L98.............

I gmailed those pics Bob, the frame is a spindly, thin, webbed arrangment, also note the busted bit, the dark areas are very old breaks in the alloy.

Yes it’s a classic fatigue break.

Ok Bob I'll see u tonite, I managed to get the pump seperated from frame. I cant see if or how the pulley comes off, and three bolts are inside the cup of the pulley, time to dig deeper in the tool box for open end rings that have been suitably bended to get into strange places, 1/8 of a turn upon turn.
Good thing I'm retired.

Ok - took on board what you said. But still cant see any visible way to get pully off.

In the centre of shaft it appears to have some threads, maybe it just needs a glancing blow (in which direction?) to get it to unscrew.

I'll give it a scrub up & send u a pic.

Oh and today dropped into R.P.Wallace (Gates dist W'park) 18777 the "U" shaped rubber pipe bypass on the manifold to throttle body is listed but not imported into Aus, also he could not source any of the "KC4" oil cooler hoses either. Time to bite the bullit and buy ex US.
