I`ll believe it when I see it.
I don't think GM will ever build a RHD corvette. Its just not feasible. Not in the American physie.

When its comes to feasibility of anything ,this country is so backward.
We can drive LHD 30 year old  plus vehicles on the roads with all the inherent problems, all well and good, but not a world class modern vehicle with all the bell whistles and safety features,  of the modern  corvette.
It Is BS, to put it politely. I was going  to use  a word   that refers to  fornication but alas NO. not today.

Two in the Walkinshaw garage, not talking to anyone with knowledge I gather .

AS they said in the opening look today that this is a big step for corvette
the rhd announcement was genuine hoping the get a piece of europe market
no more pink elephants.
digital dash is a surprise  the rear boot then the motor... how is one to
enjoy a looksie at that throbbing engine sorry I stopped at the c5 everything beyond
and converted feels a great waste of money but I do appreciate a mid engine corvette
finally!! Its quite a hunk of power at your disposal

Interesting
If there is a factory RHD VETTE  it will knock the crap out on the late model corvette price, and make the butchered conversions obsolete.
I wouldn’t have thought the vehicles would be here in Australia  before they are  released  in the US
Bfit
Ps I still need to see it to believe it.

there are no RHD Corvettes at HSV
HSV has Nothing to do with them, there is a test car here already, but its LHD.

Not sure if they have even built any RHD ones yet?

Pricing is under 100k for Base Model, placed an order today for first allocation

I stand corrected then. I also agree that the pricing on the Australian converted c7 will be effected as the price point on this new one is without a doubt very welled priced.

Regards Rosco

I don’t think it will come to pass,
But if a mid optioned c8 RHD became available here in the 130 to 140k Au they would sell quite a few . It would all depend on who distributes them.
As the HSV  fans would tend to go with the Camaro .
If Walkinshaw distribute both the Camaro and vette that would be an interesting scenario.
We live in interesting times , will the C9 be full electric

just ordered what is called the Launch edition Today at Garry and warren Smith Oakleigh $5k deposit

they will release 2 editions a Base model and a Up Spec launch Edition

Base Model a bit more than $90k and the launch edition Not sure yet as i dont know what is in the launch edition from Holden Yet

It has nothing to do with HSV in anyway, no plans for a hsv Corvette either. and available from All Holden Dealers not just HSV ones

PS the HSV comaro 1LZ are now $185k with this new Luxury car tax and these will be way cheaper and quicker

It will have an effect on all used late model Vettes, also they will have a GT version, an electric and other models not all carried by Holden

regards

c5vette ...thats fantastic on your order.Do you feel it will be at least 18 mths
before you receive the vette and are you ordering it for Australia. Some converters must a bit nervous
good things do come to an end...To wait 30yrs to drive as is makes no sense.I do like the C7 as is great look
It will be an interesting 12 mths as production begins versus pre orders and back log of supply
Plant workers must be excited as we are cheers!

who really knows, but glad I sold my c6 corvette when I did 2 months ago, as I will loose my arse on it otherwise.

I bought a 2019 mustang to play with for the next year or so, a pce of sh#t by the way.

Nothing like the handling of a corvette, but my $155k I got for my 8 year old corvette should be plenty of $$ to buy a C8

The photos of the C8 don’t give me that go buy one felling.
I’m not keen on the C7 either.
When it comes down to a car to drive the C3 is the only choice , unless it’s a shopping trip , the the C6 will  do.

I can Respect and appreciate a C3 and other Corvettes as I also own a C1, however, I prefer the performance of the late model Corvette

Reading all the reports online , it appears I was very wrong about
GM  and the RHD  corvette.

Jeez, I’ll tell you that I love my C3.  I love all the rattles, shakes, and smells that make it a real car, But I would swap it in a heartbeat for the new C8.  The shape is growing on me, but the engineering....  Wow.  I am totally, 100% on board.  I can’t wait until they start releasing all of the higher spec versions.  I wish I had a $155k car to sell so I could order mine as well  :tears:

There’s No disputing the engine performance of the lsx series engines .
I like the fell my C6 when running quickly however I don’t like it when the can steers for you, even in comp mod
When  you find your self correcting for a slid and the car applies the brakes that is a pain.
I have had the situation when in heavy rain  the car aqua planes , I back off  steer straight ahead  and the car decided to turn left and brake with all the bs appreciate DIC info. I’m not impressed with those problems.
My c3 I’ve much easier  to drive  (NOT sit in .)

Hahaha, I hear you BFit, I hate nothing more than when my shopping trolleys auto brakes for me because it assumes that I haven’t correctly judged the gap to a turning car!!
I think I was most impressed with the other tech in the car and the R&D put into frame design, aero and all of the stuff that I guess is mandatory in such a dramatic design change. The full wrap around for the driver takes the C7 to the next level. Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. I’m even geeked out by stupid things like the work they put into the button/lever feel for the gear selection.
I’m sure that it’s all marketing hype, but it got my demographic pretty much perfect. 😁👍.
It sounds like I need to figure out how to make my C3 drive like yours... 😂

It may be coincidental that there is a good number of c7`s on car sales today.
I’m looking for a c6 z06 for a donor car.

It’s interesting that the C8 mid engine is such a big deal, when it’s  all been done before.
I don’t think I’d buy one of the new concept C8`s until they have had a few years out in the general population.

Snooping around on corvette forum there is generally a good feedback about the whole thing
With no manuals built i think they will stay in demand.... autos may nose dive
On this so called world platform I cant see zo6 zr1 badges for this C8 maybe the C9 some day
A lot of investment is taking place and I reckon you.ll pay a lot more for the following year
for a rhd corvette for Australia as this is an intro price for launch of the model no one really knows
the true cost here but it will be fun fun

the RHD was developed in Australia by Holden Engineers, a lot of credit goes to them

Dealer costs could be too high. can one order   of the line pick up at bowling green go drive it over there for a while and ship it yourself

Perhaps we will see a C8 at Wakefield in the near further.
From what I’ve read the c8 is a 100 kw down on the ZL1 Camaro . I would think it won’t be long before the Z06 version hits the production line.

Just Like to mention how enjoyable this chat has been from the start
Shows the forum can work well when its used in a good way.
This C8 is a whole new ball game so to speak even feedback from the yanks
has them excited  as well it could end up the biggest seller ever.
If they want to sell them here  then they better be fair with the overall cost
and back up maintanence and service

I did hear mention of a twin turbo 6.2 motor in the not so distant future , 1000 HP but who knows . GM have been very secretive. Ray .and yes great to see how much excitement this new model has stirred up

I noticed a c7 that has been for sale for some time has dropped it asking price considerably this week. As the C8 release in aus gets closer there will be  more of the c6/c7`s for sale at lowering prices.

Yes these C6 and C7 for over $150k even the z06 C7 will drop like the mustangs did when the RHD ones came out

Wont effect the older LHD cars just the ones that have high conversion costs

Even Performax sold their Z06 C6 for under 180k and a LHD c7 for Under $75k

Performax Have a 08 Z06 up for sale in the low 90k range.
I seen a good low k Z06 one go in the 80 just a few weeks back.
I’ll keep my z06 it’s a good drive , even with all its conversion Issuse s.
