Left bargo car show around 2.00pm on Sunday (damn hot day), and travelled along M5 then M7, had the aircon on and the water temp reached 90 deg, engine oil read 101, is this to high or is this in the safe range. I think if something was going to let go it would of then.

Oil is normal.
Temp - depends on your block condition. Mine was cleaned at my rebuild and runs at less than 80deg during the day and up to 50 deg during the night in winter!!!
Most will run 80-90 deg. I wouldn't worry too much but it always pays to flush the system/rad out every year.

Hi onya
What you may also need to do is make sure the radiator is free of leaves and other items around the fins and fan shroud. Often you cannot see it due to the A/C condensor.
Same for the oil cooler make sure the fins are clean
Do you have a lower spoiler if so is it attached well and in good condition
And finally check your thermostat and thermo fan operation.;42

Both sound normal onya and definitely in the safe range in my opinion.
If it makes you feel any better, my oil and water temps both peaked in the range of 110C when I was circulating Oran Park on a hot day a few weeks back - and everything is a-ok with my motor still. ;42

A workshop manual might have the acceptable running temepeatures in it:24
Usually when your are getting close to 200 degrees F it is time for concern;37

I'll check and post them shortly but off the top of my head 227 F (108 C) is about the maximum "normal" temp for a C4.

i just looked at the manual in my 89 and it says that at 124 degrees the over heat light will come on
they say that normal opperation is between 88 and 123 degrees
page 2c-6 of the owners manual

I assume these numbers are in 'C' Steve?
-
yes they are
-
As a general rule of thumb;42
once you go over 200 degrees F;38
If your radiator hoses are poor or anything else for that matter, the amount of pressure in the cooling system can cause something to fail, usually a blown radiator hose or heater hose.;50 Next would be the radiator tank or core;27
Always make sure that your radiator and headter hoses are not oil soaked, hard, or showing signs of age cracks or swelling, and that your coolant is clean.:}

I thank everyone for their answers and the taking the time to write them, hoses are great and in good condiction. Will be doing a major flush out over Xmas.

Wouldn't hurt to take the rad out and shake it around whil flushing - amazing what lies at the bottom of those things.

;51 And to add to that ,the amount of rubbish you'll find between the radiator and AC condensor, that front spoiler works like a street sweeper, sucking up everything in it's path. If that radiator hasn't been out for years you'll be suprised by the amount of leaves and dirt which will be clogging up the cooling fins of both. It shocked me when I took mine out ;50

I even discovered some light reading when I did mine!

88C =190F
123C = 250F
The fan start temp on the stock chip is 225F for the main fan and 228F for the 2nd fan if fitted.
C4's are set up stock to run hot for emission purposes.
Older SBC used to run in the 180- 195F range.
