IN NSW as I understand  .
its  not illegal to own a detector.
 it illegal to use one in your vehicle
It would be interesting to read the current  law  on detectors and get a opinion of a QC  If there are grounds  to put a high court  challenged up to test the Law
its all comes down to money
imagine if ever car had a radiator detector.
and the powers to be fitted emitters randomly on the roads
and turned them on and of at random
would that tend to slow  down the majority of drivers.
the only problem would be no revenue for speed traps.
 
Radars are only designed to raise money  under the disguise of a safety program
