Overall, the Aus. Corvette forums are a little slow but I checked the above mentioned one after being in NZ for the last few weeks and there seems to be more activity there than here.
What I've done is created a bookmark for the new posts and I check it daily, admittedly a lot of the posts are just daily blog entries.

I think I had the same problem, you have to email them after registering for them to approve you.
Yep, just checked the site which states:
WE NO LONGER MONITOR NEW REGISTRATIONS:
EMAIL: admin@australiancorvettes.com for authorization
They must get a lot of spambots.
