66 327 300 with mild cam and original Holley

Initial timing set @ ~ 8○ BTDC with total mech. @ ~ 28○
Idle mixture 3 turns out on both sides (oh my eyes) Dwell  35○ :banner:

Reset inital to ~ 16○ which now has the total  @ ~ 36○ WO vacuum
Dwell now set @ 30○ idle mixture 1-1/2 turn out each.
Runs alot better.

Bubba certainly gets around, so he's probably used his monkey wrench, chisel and lump hammer to fine tune your engine at some stage.
It's C3 chromie for me, see? Si!

The retarded timing may have been poor California fuel (or he just went by the book) but there's no excuse for such a rich idle
Tuned by ear maybe ?

16Deg total  advance seem a little light to me
is that mechanical only and not including vacuum
and dwell angle I would think 31/34 degs
at 36 deg you  compromise the coil saturation time
and you introduce other problems

personally I would  think about fitting a MSD    distributor
with an 6AL controller
you will have far less problems and better advance  control
and if you wire it up correctly you can have a built in anti theft devise.

But nothing will defeat  a tilt  tray.

16 initial WO vacuum and 36 total WO vacuum (sorry for the confusion)
But this is just a guess, as I don't have a dial back light and I'm just going off the the timing tab.
At the moment the inital is at the very end of the scale on the tab and total is about 20○ after that.
I've got to put some timing tape on the ballancer to get it right.

Later, I'll probably install a Pertronix ignitor III instead of the points and keep it looking stock.

At the moment, I'm just getting to idle and run o.k.
I have no idea what cam is in it, so I'll probably have to recurve the dizzy by trial and error as well.
