on JUNE 7, 2012 The 18th annual Hot Rod Power Tour is well underway this week and yesterday, the traveling performance car show stopped at Mid America Motorworks Effingham, IL campus for a hot lunch and a one-of-a-kind car show.
Some 3,000 hot rods, including over 130 Corvettes, were making their way from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign to the Gateway International Raceway on what was the 4th day of the 7 day tour that started in Detroit and ends in Arlington, Texas.
America’s Sports Car is a regular on the Hot Rod Power Tour, mixed in among Street Rods, Vintage Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Kit Cars, Exotics and more. Mid America provided the Corvettes with special parking and so it was easy to see just how many were participating in the tour.
“It’s a no-brainer that enthusiasts are driving their Corvettes on Hot Rod Power Tour,” said Mid America Motorworks founder and Chief Cheerleader, Mike Yager. “Late-model Corvettes are fast, attractive and comfortable. That’s exactly what you want on a 1,700 mile drive!”
Participants took home souvenirs from their visit to Mid America Motorworks, including unique Hot Rod Power Tour bumper stickers, t-shirts and other hobby-related items. This is Mid America Motorworks’ second time welcoming the tour, which voted the aftermarket Corvette supplier as the favorite lunch stop in 2010.
