But isnt that a big block bonnet

It's what they call a 'stinger' hood. You can buy a whole bonnet with scoop moulded into it or you can buy a stinger scoop separately and add it to your regular C2 bonnet.

When I was looking to purchase a C2 I saw a few guys trying to get big block prices for their small block with stinger hoods. They'd eventually lower their prices but I imagine they saw other C2's with the scoop (that were big blocks) and thought their car was worth the same.

I was looking for one around 5 years back and decent C2's in the USA were in the 40-50k range, the big blocks were 80k+ USD

RHD

I guess that adds a premium to it.

A C2 is on a dolly at the body works place at Leichhardt, on parramatta rd, ( just down from the old rick dame liana place). It's sitting quite proudly in the window in an aqua colour. Looks great.

I'm guessing it's Berlina Body Works, they usually have nice cars in the window.

Steve,
You have to appreciate the cars that run through that place, they must do good work otherwise I'd don't this they would get to work on those wonderful cars. They had a 50s Ferrari in there a few years ago.
The C2 seems to be getting the full treatment.

Yeah they must have a reputation but I'm sure I've heard one complaint about the place. Could be a one-off and just like anything, check out their work before you invest in them.

I believe the old Australian kit car based on a C3 look.

Indeed, Perrenti kit car's were built on a Holden utility or One-Tonne chassis, and also carried over all the Holden running gear.

Thought it looked a bit different, initially thinking it was one of those weird vettes from the movie days (as in the movie Corvette Summer - featuring Mark Hamill but not in a galaxy far far away)

what was the cost of a similar style C3 corvette in those times to buy and ship to Oz?

Be interesting to know how many were built/registered and how many are still out there.
One of our members had a nickname  "Perrenti Bill", but I would hazzard a guess he no longer has one.

Someone here may better answer that question but in those days American pony cars were scarce on the ground here; they all had to be converted to RHD too.

Be interesting to know how many were built/registered and how many are still out there.

I posted pics of a red one I saw at a Roman's Hot Rod night; thanks to photobucket it's unviewable on this forum.

Yep,you're right. The Perentti was a kit car put onto an HQ.
I contemplated one when I was a kid because the C3's were about twenty/thirty thousand and the kit was something like three thou.
Only thing was, the Perentti was longer and looked a bit odd.

Whatever happened to kit cars? There were quite a few companies making them in the past, sure, they were as dodgy as the builder, you got what you paid for but is anyone making them these days?

Whatever happened to kit cars?

There are still quite a few available:  http://www.autosource.com.au/car-kitcar-manufacturers.php

... but the Nanny State makes it hard for them.
It's C3 chromie for me, see? Si!
