TEMPERATURE GAUGE
« on: November 28, 2003, 11:23:29 AM »
Is there some one that knows how to test a temperature gauge with out having to pull it out of the car to see why it is not working properly.
Ihave replaced the sending unit but the gauge still climbs off the dial when the car has been just started.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure the guys from Southern Radiators would be able to help you out. Don't have their phone # handy at the moment, but you'll find it in the club mag.

Hiya Filth!
Disconnect sender unit wire, see if the guage goes to zero. If not, ground wire to something of negative polarity (engine block), does it now go to zero? Check that engine block has a good negative connection. Measure voltage at sender unit wire, I would think it should be 12 volts. If this does not help I think you will have to pull the guage out. Give us a call if you want. Good luck mate.:drink
