sideways slip.

pud:
I have a problem.  (doesnt everyone) I have a 64 corvette which has a slipping? problem.  it doesnt occur every time but only once in a while whilst negotiating a sweeping left hand bend.  It is usually a 100k area and the bend is more like a curve.  for some unknown reason and unexpectedly, the rear end seems to slip sideways, to the right, only for a fraction of a second, as though there was a small patch of oil on the road. Scares the poop out of you.
As I said, it doesnt happen all the time.  I have looked under the rear end and checked the wheels but all seems tight (not that I would know that much about it)
Can any one help?????

Hi pud,

Check the leaf spring bolts are tight on the diff housing, have a look at the trailing arm bushes, wheel bearings; lower shock mount bolts are tight.

pud:
Will do...as soon as it stops raining.  will let you know.

thanks for that.

pud.

good call 72vette, when I read this I was thinking the same thing. I read a post on this forum about 12 months ago warning to check those bolts. So I did and they were all about a half turn loose. Whoever put that post up THANK YOU.:bannana: whoever you were....

little bit of locktite did wonders !!!!!

Camo:
Yep I agree.  Those back end bolts and shims come loose you will know about it.

Mick, I think you may be referring to this thread/post http://nswcorvettes.com.au/forum/viewthread.php?tid=7430#pid1045936338
