Autoedit’s Jason Lewis profiles a 1965 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe that has nearly 500,000 miles on the odometer. The silver Corvette has served as the daily driver for the owner of the car for the last 46 years. Although it has been maintained and freshened up over the years, the Sting Ray still sports its original 327 Cubic Inch V8. The 300 horse car is mated to a 4-speed, but other than that, there are very little other options – no power brakes, steering or air conditioning.
As Jason get’s behind the wheel and engages the 4-speed (which he calls happiness in your hand), his enthusiasm for the car grows as he let’s the Corvette loose on some twisty California roads. A GoPro camera provides plenty of different angles as the Corvette cruises down the street.

What’s really impressive though is the owner’s dedication to driving the Corvette for all these years. He could have parked the car at any time within the last 20-30 years, deeming it too valuable to serve as a daily driver. 500,000 miles on any car is an achievement but it seems particularly more satisfying that all those miles are on a classic ‘65 Corvette as opposed to a Volvo or Toyota.
