diff ratio, not happy

(1/3) > >>

87droptop:
hi everyone, took my car out for a test run for the first time yesterday, and i know the diff ratio is 4.11, it was not much fun to drive, revvs too high at 60 kmh.....and obviously runs a bit hotter since it produces more heat at higher revs for the same speed, and.. fuel ( that dont matter much), so, any one know what standard ratios these have , 1968, was 350, now 383, and any suggestions to what is good for it??? i was thinking anything around 3.2 or 3.3, if it exists..
thank u all again

MADLT1:
mine is a 3.36 ratio,it a good all rounder, mine is a 383 aswell with 4 speed, revs high on the freeway but good for every day use, other than that if your not worried about originallity what a dougnash 5 speed behind it?

Is it manual or auto? There is 3.08 3.36 3.55 ratios, gear set is about $400 to buy then you have to R & R diff & also cost to set up gears in diff, then you do wheel bearing, suspension bushes, uni joints, paint everything while your in there.

yeah, i've done all that already, it took 2 years... just went thru the whole car, i've never had a 4.11, so i thought i would wait and c how it is gonna drive. $400 for diff gears in the states or here?? if i were 2 change gearbox, maybe to a 5 or 6 speed if possible, then would keep this diff.. how many revs does yours sit on while doing 100 or 110 km/h mate??

87droptop:
and, yes it is manual.
