Hi Guys
I'm fitting a TKO600 to my 68 vette and was wondering if anyone else has fitted one and if so what tranny oil did they settle for.

TKO600 & TKO500 are considered to be the premiere transmissions with quality performance. Have more details on :

I am thinking of something similar did you get a box set up for the vette

IE gear shift mechanism off set to the left

I will be getting full kit for my car sent very soon.

It includes everything I need for the install from clutch to driveshaft.

I'm pretty sure that box is a strengthened T5. Keisler remanufacture them with stronger internals. (ie parts are not available from anyone but keisler)

I went with a TKO600 as they are a known product. I got a complete auto to manual conversion kit from Amercan powertrain, with a hydraulic clutch set-up. I'm just waiting for it to turn up. It's on a boat somewhere :)

When I was getting quotes from everyone, Keisler were always the most expensive.

It's a 73, with a lot of 80 model parts.

I started pulling the dash out tonight  to sort out a few things until the gearbox arrives.  I'll have to take some pics as I go and update the build thread.

I went for the 0.6x overdrive ratio.  I want the revs to drop right back on the highway.  I'll have to change the 3.08 diff for something much shorter for fast acceleration :drag:  No wonder it seemed sluggish with the T350.  The speedo swung around pretty quick thank to the huge torque of the 400sb, but the car didn't have that 'push' in the back.

Yup last week before the dollar dived.

I ended up ringing my contact and had a long talk with him and went mechanical linkage.

their ceramic clutch set up is almost as light as hydraulic and he said they get a few problems with the internal hydraulic setup leaking.

btw Wintersun at Port Mac. has been good fun IM SO TIRED !!!!!

I just got an invoice for my customs duty and GST.  So, I should have my gearbox by the end of the week, if I'm lucky... :pepper::hammer:

I finally got my gearbox on Thursday.  I only had a quick chance to check thrpigh the boxes.  They left out the hydraulic clutch assembly :grr:

I have sent them a few emails not and have got none in return. I might have to get up early tomorrow and give them a call...

I sent an email to their sales dept. instead of the guy I was initially dealing with.  They got straight back to me so hopefully we can sort everything out quickly.

I just had a chat to the mob that brought the box over from the states for me.  They have just found another box that was part of my shipment...
So I guess that solves a few problems :)  They are mailing it down to me.

I guess that's what happens when you go for the cheapest price :hammer:
