were going racing

(1/1)

nifty:
long time frined of mine is going racing.
im going to help him out where ever i can, but for those intersted, here is what he bought .
full chassis torana,
400ci mouse, 14:1 compression ratio.
check out in front of the engine plate... that alloy cover houses an external timing belt...neat idea as it can be changed without opening the motor.
car runs cositent low 9's for the 1/4    a steal at 45 grand...
this is a big doller build, and jack my ate is a pro painter , and tells me the body work is first class, as it must be being painted black.

77CVT:

hell yeah.... the motor would be approaching that price alone.

69 DIRTY RAT:
That is a good price! Is it going to be set up for the 1/4 or 1/8?

he plans on doing a local tri series set up by the whyalla track.
its takes in whyalla, mildura and portland vic.... all 1/8th mile tracks.
due to bob jane getting his knickers in a knot, adelaide where he lives doesnt have an opperating 1/4mile track, indeed nor does the rest of s.a.
but jack also plans on heading up to alice springs with a few whyalla racers who make the trek north to run on their 1/4 track
the s.a. federal goverment has so far resisted all attempts to build a 1/4 track in the adelaide area, was on the news the other night, that drag strips increase hoon behavior.... YEAH RIGHT.....
but there is hope....there is a propsed track in the pipeworks for pt augusta, being built by a private person and a new club has been formed to raise funds.
the prime mover in the project is a hell of a nice bloke, who loves his racing.
he sponsers our local 1/8th track here in whyalla, and has even gone so far as to pay out of his own money, to have our track V.H.T traction counded (ed) just so he can run his car in a straight line.
and it seems to have worked as before he couldnt keep it in a straight line... but now runs true and straight.
he is hoping to break the track record with the car....
the car in question???
 of course.... a 59 vette.
