Ignition control modules
« on: November 11, 2009, 02:50:59 PM »
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there are and versions of a Gen2 that came out with distributorless ignition?
I have a Lt1 5.7L MPI corvette engine in my ski boat which is fitted with a ignition module and 4 individual coils, the motor is marinised by Indmar, i am trying to get hold of a new Ignition Control Module .
i cant seem to find any variants that run this type of ignition, they all seem to have optispark.

any help would be much appreciated

Assuming it's an Indmar ignition module, have you tried Indmar themselves?

I have tried Indmar Australia and 2 dealers, they seem to think its a GM product and the module isnt made specifically for Indmar.
They can get one from the states, and as you can imagine for an extortionate price!

Are there any identifying numbers of the unit in question? If it's GM part there ought to be a GM part number on it.

It would probably help if you posted a clear photo of it, too.

Not in a production Corvette.
As you have found out all LT1's had the the Optispark
Yours is probably the aftermarket Delteq 4 coil conversion ; uses a Delphi ignition module
Does your module look like this ?

No thats not the same, i have discovered that the module is interchangable with the unit used on cadillac Northstar engines, which are easy to get your hands on.
But thanks for your help guys
