Removing the screen on the MAF
« on: September 08, 2003, 04:26:49 PM »
Our club had a dyno day on Saturday.  I have the MAF screens still attached on my '85 so this was the perfect opportunity to see proof if removing the screens actually works!  Many had said it gains HP, others said it is a waste of time but no one has ever shown proof.

I pulled 195.6 RWHP, changed the MAF with someone who had removed the screens and had another run.

I didn't expect a lot but I gained 4.2 RWHP and another 300 revs higher.

199.8 RWHP ........now what can I do to get another .2 RWHP?  ;--

I don't mean to be negative 77CVT but in my opinion that difference might just be a variation between dyno runs.

Did you do one run with each?  Just curious.

2 runs with the screens then 1 run without.

The variation between the first 2 runs was 1 RWHP.

Make of it what you will.
