American Car Sunday

"Show n Shine" at Warriewood on the northern beaches is a very popular, well promoted annual event that attracts many exhibitors and a large public following that has been growing each year. Formerly held at Narrabeen, in 2008 the event moved to Pittwater Rugby Park (aka “Rat Park” as it is the home of the Warringah Rats Rugby team).

Enter either by Pittwater Rd Warriewood, or off Walsh St, North Narrabeen (red line on map.)

Last year, the fantastic amount of $14,500 was donated to charity from the proceeds of gate takings and food sales.

This year the organisers will set aside a special display area for our Club where we can set up our display stands, etc, and we are combining the Show n Shine with a breakfast run: a free breakfast of hot food and hot beverages will be served to all exhibitors by the organisers as long as they are inside the gates by the 8am deadline.

Exhibitor entry is free. Trophies will be awarded in a number of categories.

So, put this event in your diary now and let’s show Corvette Club pride in big numbers as we help raise funds for these worthy charities!

Confirmed today with organiser Bob Radnidge that our Club will be allocated a dedicated section on the oval behind the goal posts -- as the playing field itself is off limits for cars. We can set up information booths, etc, if desired.

Bob says he is looking forward to seeing a big Vette turnout to offset the usually large Mustang turnout, which he cheekily suggested he may place at the opposing end of the field. (We don't have to change ends at half time.)

So, ink this event in your calendars and let's give the northern beach population a Vette exhibition to remember.

Remember: free brekkie if you're in before 8am.

Bring your display boards boys and girls.

Let's put on a great show ... Vettes are not a common sight on the peninsula.

Great! You will be very welcome, mate!

However, if it's easier to go straight from Mosman, no probs. We'll park you with the rest of us on the oval.

I like the idea of driving in a convoy (I can be the rubber ducky crashing the gate at 98...:)
And anyway, we can race at all the lights...LOL!.....hurt the road I say...make it pay!

Don't worry I will be a good boy but only for that day.  I did buy this car to enjoy it as much as possible which is why it's my daily driver.......:22

Tomorrow folks!

I was down at Rat Park today and they are looking forward to seeing a big Vette contingent.

We are at the southern end of the playing field, facing the Mustangs at the other. (No whistle at half time to change ends!)

As we know, Mustangs travel in big packs and the organisers certainly want to see more GM vehicles on show.

So, get your Vette there tomorrow!

I am only a new member but I was told by a senior member tonight that it's hard to get some of you guys out of bed on a Sunday morning...well, this is my very first club type event (EVER) and I have owned a lot of American Muscle in my time so it would be nice to see the Chevy Logo flying especially if the Mustang people flock in droves.  So I hope to see MOST of you Vette owners there.  It sounds like an awesome event and I am very excited to be a part of your club....anyway, what's the point of owning an amazing car if you can't show it off to the little people every now and then...;58

Great turnout guys! I counted 29 Vettes.

Special commendation to MR 502 for fronting with a heavily bandaged foot and crutches following recent surgey.

Both organisers, Bob and Kevin, told me they were very happy with our display, and I think our end of the field generated a lot more attention that the Mustang end (but then I may be a tad biased :mmm).

The public was still coming though the turnstiles at 3.30pm! Bob Radnidge told me at close-up that the gate takings (all for charity) were "bloody great", so that's the main thing.

It's unfortunate that the breakfast cooks underestimated the supply requirement and ran out of provisions before 8am -- but they are Rotary volunteers and do their best with whatever information they are given by the organisers ahead of time.
