Rubber or Polyurthane?????
MR 69ER:
I am in the process of researching what type of suspension package would be best to buy in order to renew the front end of my 69 big block. Some have told me rubber bushes and others have said polyurthane. Can anyone shed any light on my situation?:20:20:20
Brutus:
I wouldn't hesitate in going with poly bushes. I've done my entire suspension, front and rear, with them. If you have any queries then ask away.
MR 69ER:
Well my intensions were always poly but since speaking to a couple of people several have mentioned that the poly ones were noisey (ie: squeek) i'm not sure how bad or after how long but that was their opinion and after looking around for the components i found Zip's selling the poly kit for $10.00 dearer than the rubber kit as apposed to everyone else how is at least $20-$30 more and i have started to think that not too many people might be buying the poly kits for this and other reasons. :20:20:20:20:20
Brutus:
I haven't heard a 'peep' out of my suspension since I changed over to poly bushes and before someone else tells you it's going to ride too harsh, it's quite ok in that area too. Aside from all that it's a job you can do at home on your own without the need for a press to push the rubber bushes and sleeves back into place. There are a few "tricks of the trade" for poly bushes, but nothing mind numbing.
I'd be more inclined to take it from people who have poly installed rather than from those who've heard it from a friend of a friend. or think they remember reading it in some magazine. Better still come and look at mine if you like.
And for your reading enjoyment here's an article on front suspension rebuilding that might be of some use as well.
Adam:
I also hear poly engine mounts are good.
