Great purchase Nik

I GOT A VETTE.

Its a 1969 Blue T-Top 4speed w/ *original* flares. PS, PB & Tilt/tele also. This is a november car. I believe the guy who was selling it regarding the originality of the flares, for a reason I will state below.

Matching numbers rebuilt 350/350 with 1000 miles since new rebuild.

New/reworked SS Brakes, Suspension, etc, and I believe its frame had a little work done to it earlier.

Not sure how rare the car is, with it coming out of the factory with the flares, and being matching numbers but I couldn't pass up the offer. It is VERY rare to see a vette with original flares. And this vette is totally original minus the hood.

The interior is in great condition, needs a few touch ups here and there, but overall is very clean.

The previous owner was/is the President of the Pittsburgh NCRS Chapter, and obviously knew his stuff. NCRS being the National Corvette Restorers Society, so is quite respected in that community.

He was accompanied by some fellow aussies (members of this board I later found out & Murray Forman of this club) who were VERY helpful in clearing up a few matters with me, and also gave me some contacts for when I export/import my car back to australia. Interesting how you move around the other side of the world and end up buying a corvette off a yank with a gang of aussies :)

Looks and sounds great. Should be delivered my way in the next few days.

Has barely any rust that I could find, in fact, the undercarriage looked like it had been well looked after or restored.

I'm so psyched. The only non-factory parts are the tach, the bonnet and the carb and cam (which I am getting the originals of anyway).

This car has appeared in magazines which is cool, now I just need to figure out which ones and backorder them.

Excuse the size of the pictures, but I don't have photoshop installed to fix them up.

I'm so happy right now, I can't wipe the grin off my face. It was well worth me turning into a man-lobster (sunburn sucks but I can't feel it im so euphoric).

And congratulations on an excellent buy.
Btw, don't worry about Pete and his fixation with beds. You can see from his handle why this is so.;27:22;27
Luv those flares too, but I have doubts that they were fitted by the factory. I know some cars were offered with flares as an option, but I believe they were distributed with the car seperately and not actually moulded on from the factory...... I may be wrong and if so I stand corrected..
I do worry about the fit of the 'hood' tho. There are some nasty inconsistancies with the gaps there, so if you decide you'd rather not put up with them then I'd be only too glad to take it off your hands.:b2:22:b2

I Luv the flares too! nice color as well.Good to see a vette other than red (although red vettes usually go faster). For the price its good value.I also doubt that the flares are original,I think (I could be wrong also) they were only offered when you ticked the L88 or ZL1 box,but occasionally these things did happen, someone may have knew the right person at the factory or a COPO special order??The only other reason it could be original is if it was a tuner car such as MOTION or Berger or a few others. But if that was the case it would be worth a fortune! But the L88 hood on you car goes with the L88 theme!.The only other thing you should check is the possiblity of rust on the windscreen pillars. This is a common rust problem as well as the chassis.Look for bubbling around or near the VIN on the pillar.Anyway I hope you drive it hard!Remember the police highway patrol shift change is around 6am ,this is a great time to kick it in the guts!!!.I used to do 100mph to the beach to go surfin.YEEEHAAA...........ENJOY

I'm starting to doubt the originality of the flares, but the guy that owned it was a NCRS guy, so I'm going to see what he has to say about it.

I actually saw a magazine article which I skimmed over about it which was with the car. Might have to check it out further :)

should be delivered soon :)

Nik...The information I have is that L-88/ZL-1 "flares" were sold "over the counter" and not factory installed. I believe the ones in your pic are not GM as they have too much material at the rear, factory flares tapered in to the body much more. The GM flares would also have a part number glassed in on the back side if you can get under and look.
Btw, aside from the hood, the car as is certainly isn't an original what with the after market tach, flex fan and headers as well as some other points I've noticed. I may not know everything that's supposed to be original, but I can spot a modification a mile away.:22

oh yeah, I don't deny that >8)

there are more unorginial parts, but the engine is numbers matching, which is great for me >8)

It doesn't really upset me at all if it isn't original, cause it still looks darn sexy :22

Darn darn sexy.
