My '79 Vette

72vet:
Thanks for your input guys,

Beno, the guy who is importing the car knows about the 30 year age limit and is planning to spend the next 12 months getting the car in order before he registers it.

I sent an email to him with a link to the Forum. I’m sure he will register soon.

Thanks again

Beno:
Hi Everyone
There's a post from me here, put in by Nick.
I'll be registering it in Qld, but I'm sure the things I want to know about are relevant in ALL states, and I'd certainly appreciate any solutions, or advice, in regards to these matters.
I contacted Hemco and they can sell me some seatbelts that will fit, BUT I was hoping to find some from another make/model car that will bolt straight in (with NO mods needed).
My indicators/tail/brake light lenses are ALL red, hence my idea about using another reverse light asembly (because of it's white centre). Any ideas there??
Thanks heaps.
Cheers.
Beno
P.S. I'll post some photos when it arrives.

The headlights will have to be replaced, not adjusted.  Ours shine lower to the right, US ones shine higher to the right.  High and low beams.  They are pretty cheap.

You'll need a rear view mirror on each side too

I believe you are supposed to fit new seatbelts, not 2nd hand ones.  Some law about it, but it's hard to enforce for obvious reasons.

I still need to get my seatbelts and indicators and mirrors sorted, so let me know what you come up with.

nifty:
2nd hand seatbelts are a BIG no-no.... and surprisingly the laws are different from state to state..... im also in another forum, where a bloke is importing his own car from the usa to qld....will find a link and pm it to you with what hes done so far....

nifty:
on 2nd thoughts i will post it here if the mods dont mind.?... it may have relevance to other people wanting to import and register a car.....
