Event of interest. It s a day out at albion park air strip.


The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS), the Sports Aircraft Association of Australia (SAAA), and Shellharbour City Council (SCC) are once again presenting the Wings Over Illawarra Open Day at Albion Park Regional Airport on:-
Saturday 08 March 2008 from 0930-1530 hrs.
The following major attractions will be presented at the Open day, subject to weather and serviceability affecting visiting aircraft:-
•   The historic aircraft collection operated and flown by HARS, which includes:- a Lockheed Super Constellation (“Connie”); A Catalina Flying Boat; Two Lockheed Neptunes; Two Douglas Dakotas; De Havilland Drover, Tiger Moth and Vampires; Winjeels; Cessna 310 and 170; Grumman Tracker, Sabre.
•   Light aircraft operated by SAAA members
•   Displays from Businesses located at the airport e.g. aircraft maintenance, general aviation, charter flights and replica aircraft construction
•   Tandem parachute jumps with “Skydive The Beach”  
•   Visiting “ Warbirds” aircraft from the Temora Aviation Museum
•   RAAF “Roulettes” Aerobatics Display Team from East Sale
•   Charter flight aircraft including P51 Mustang and the Aerial Patrol aircraft
•   Displays of Model Aircraft
•   Classic and Historic Car Displays
•   Classic and Historic MotorBike Displays
•   Illawarra Light Rail Museum offering steam train rides
•   Display and Recruiting Stands for e.g. Armed Services, RAAF Air Cadets, Air League, Scouts, St Johns Ambulance and Rural Fire Service
•   Food Stalls and Children’s Entertainment Areas
Costs:-
Public parking within airport:- $5 per car
Free admission to many exhibits e.g. car and bike displays, model aircraft, food stalls and childrens’ entertainment areas
Admission to Aircraft Display Areas:- $5 per person
Inspection of some Aircraft (when open):-$5 per person

The club has just received a formal invite to show our Vettes with free entry.  Details will be discussed at Feb Club meeting and more details posted here there after.

Both groups to meet @ Mt Ousley to travel together to Albion Pk.

Arrive Albion Pk @ the air field 9am to enter as a club group.
For Car & Bike Club vehicles attending, There will be no parking or admission fee,and each driver will be provided with free entry to the aircraft areas as a specific thankyou for bringing their vehicle. There is a specially allocated reserved area for car & bike clubs to display their vehicles during the day.Cars can leave when they require and do not have to stay to the end

There will be adequate food stalls at the Open Day,but club members are encouraged to bring picnic type food & also their own seating so they can locate near their display vehicles during the day.

The club is also invited to bring advertising  & display materials to promote membership & interest in the Club from the visiting public,it is strongly recommended to locate display near to vehicle location.

The WOI 07 open day attracted an estimated 15,000 visitors & recieved excellent & positive feedback,an even bigger turnout is expected for 2008
 
Members please advise if attending so suitable space can be allocated by the organisers.
